More About the Author

Jan Pollard qualified as a teacher at Stockwell College. She became head of Greenstead Green primary school and head of Special Needs for primary schools in Colchester. After retiring she wrote a monthly page for Child Education to encourage the enjoyment of poetry and the written word. Her collection of poetry for Child Education is published in 'Who Lives in a Tree? 'Amazon. Her poetry book, 'Fly, Eagle Fly,'Ladybird Books, won an award from Ladybird as the readers of Nursery World voted it the best Early Years book published that year.This is now out of print but can be bought as a second hand book. She has written many children's books to encourage a love of reading and three novels - 'A Victorian Rose,' - 'The Hidden Gardens'- 'The Fortune Hunter' Amazon. Her commissioned book from Scholastic, ' Evacuee' is being published in January 2015 about her own experiences during WW2.
Her poems are used in schools in Hong Kong, Singapore and Norway to help young children in reading and writing in the English language.
With her husband she illustrates her children's books and also illustrates books for other writers. She has two daughters and lives in Matlock, Derbyshire.
