This was the first Lora Leigh book i read! and what an introduction !! this book is filled with deceit and hate and the cruelty of science at its worst, but most of all an intense sensuality and Love flow through it. I really enjoyed it and went on to read more!!

I ordered this because I enjoy romance with a supernatural flavour, and spicy sex scenes don't hurt. I like Nora Roberts, Christine Feehan, Marjorie Liu et al. However this was very disappointing. The plot is so weak I can barely remember it, and basically an excuse for graphic sex scenes. Dont get me wrong, I dont mind explicit sex scenes, but only when the writing is good and they are set in the context of a good story, ideally a thriller. Also the idea of a compulsion to have sex without a choice was vaguely disturbing. And dont get me started on the cheesy language.....I finished this book to give it the benefit of the doubt and started the second one only to stop after a few pages when I realised th plot was basically the same with new names.
If you want titillation and cant get anything better this would do. Otherwise, save your money.

I FOUND THIS A GREAT READ, IT WAS HOT & SEXY BUT WITH A GREAT STORYLINE AS WELL. ALTHOUGH IT WAS FICTION IT WAS REALLY EASY TO ACCEPT THE CONCEPT THAT A SECRET BODY WOULD MESS WITH GENETICS TO CREATE THE PERFECT ARMY, I'M SURE IT'S PROBABLY HAPPENING SOMEWHERE TODAY BUT WHETHER THEY WOULD CONSIDER MIXING ANIMAL DNA WITH HUMAN TO CREATE THIS PERFECT SOLDIER IS ANOTHER THING ALTOGETHER. THAT BASICALLY IS WHAT THE SERIES IS ABOUT THE VARIOUS HYBRIDS THAT ARE CREATED AND KEPT IN AWFUL CONDITIONS, TREATED WORSE THAN THE ANIMALS THEY ARE PARTLY CREATED FROM WOULD BE TREATED. THE STORIES COVER THEIR ESCAPE AND HOW THE DNA MIX AFFECTS THEIR PHYSIOLOGY AND THEIR SEXUALITY. I MAKE IT SOUND VERY DRY AND SCIENTIFIC BUT BELIEVE ME IT'S NOT, IT RAW ANIMAL SEXUALITY ALONG WITH HUMAN SENSUALITY AND TENDERNESS THAT IS FOUND IN TRUE LOVE. THE MAIN DIFFERENCE IS THAT THEY HAVE NO REAL CHOICE IN WHO THEY LOVE THEY ARE BIOLOGICALLY DESTINED TO LOVE ONLY ONE AND SUFFER THROUGH UNBEARABLE SEXUAL HEAT UNTIL THEY FIND AND ACCEPT THIS MATE AND THE OVERPOWERING NEED TO BREED. ON TOP OF ALL THIS IS THE ONGOING FIGHT TO AVOID THEIR MAKERS AND SURVIVE THE HUNT LONG ENOUGH TO MAKE SOCIETY ACCEPT THEM AS MORE THAN ANIMALS. A GREAT FIRST BOOK IN A GREAT SERIES. BUY, BUY, BUY - A TRUE KEEPER
