If you like the Forgotten Realms and haven't read any of the books by Ed Greenwood (The creator of the Forgotten Realms) then it is about time you started. This is the third book of the Elminster series, the previous two being 'Elminster: The Making of a Mage' and 'Elminster in Myth Drannor', which focus on the development of the Realms greatest living wizard Elminster. This book covers Elminster's life after the fall of Myth Drannor and the setbacks and challenges that face Elminster and help him on his road to becoming the great mage that we all know and love in the present day Realms. The Elminster Series is gripping, funny, entertaining and all the things that you can expect from Ed Greenwood's Forgotten realms novels. This book is a great addition to one of my favourite series of books and I would recommend it to anyone, but it is best to read the first two books first.
