Im a massive fan of JR's, I love his style and humour, though in this we only get glimpses of his signature wit (for me at least), I actually wonder how much input he had into this ebook. That said, I enjoyed this title enourmously, with its overtones of Indiana Jones and Clive Cussler (Dirk Pitt/Fargoes/Kurt Austin). A tale of ancient lost treaure, bio engineered guardians and plenty of action in the tropical forests of South America.

I look forward to hearing more of the character's histories (I suspect theres a couple of novels worth there), with the the exception of Ms Da Vinci (the lady who hired Nick Caine, the looter protagonist). She brought nothing to the party in my opinion, and was a self centred dizzy bint, and why he's half in love with her by the end of the story is beyond my understanding, but I digress. Suspend your disbelief for a few hours and you will love this fast paced, dont stop for breath adventure. Worth a look and for less than a couple of quid, why not?

I am a huge fan of both Aiden James and J.R. Rain, so to say that I was excited to read this book is being modest!

Nick Caine is a Looter. He searches for and gets treasures and artifacts that are hard to find. He is also a Looter with a conscience and does not always charge for the things that he finds. One day he receives a message to meet with a Marie Da Vinci. So he bites and goes to meet her to see what she wants. Nick has sworn off women so imagine his shock at his attraction to Marie.

Marie's father has been murdered and she wishes to continue with his work and get the treasure that he had found years ago in the legendary Ciudad Blanca. Unfortunately her Uncle is very untrustworthy and he is also after the treasure. Marie needs Nicks help. Nick reluctantly agrees. Something he soon starts to regret.

Marie is headstrong and quick to snap. First attitude of the trip, when she found out that Nick's partner Ishi was coming along. Something she quickly got over. The way to the treasure is a treacherous one and Marie shows that she has a very reckless side in this quest. They come across at least three unimaginably horrible beasts that Nick has to battle.

The finally find the treasure which unfortunately results in a showdown with Marie's Uncle who Nick has an unfortunate past with. It will definitely take some quick thinking on Nicks part for them to get out of the situation alive...

I LOVED this book! Two of my favorite authors in one book. You can't beat that.. I definitely recommend this book!

For a short story it's okay, but I mean it is really short, about an hours worth of reading, charecters and plot are not very believable, but maybe if the story was longer you would have got to know them better.

As a story it got me hooked very quickley (have got the other 2 in the series on my kindle now) could relate to the characters and found it hard to put down, however left me wanting more story content and when I got to the end felt like I'd missed something, re read it and I had not. Still now into the third book so cant be all that bad just feel like they coulld be so much more.

This is a good introduction to a new set of characters led by Nick Caine, Set in the Amazon jungle in search of a lost city and it's horde of treasure it could be seen as in the same vein as Indianna Jones, but the characters develop well and there seems a lot of scope for more adventures around the world, certainly will be reading the next installment .

An ok read to keep you occupied as long as you ignore the holes in the plot. I was a bit disappointed

The only reason I finished this book was because its less than 100 pages long. It really is awful, no real plot and shallow doesn't even begin to describe the characters

Apparently the first in a series. Has the potential to be a good series . Very much in the style of Matt Drake . Look forward to the next one

I wish I had read the reviews before buying this book. Having just read The Lost Ark by this author (which was excellent) I thought I would read another and I like this genre of book. But how disappointing this book was. It started well, but went downhill at the start of chapter 8, where the narrative was quite confusing. I agree with all the other comments made by those who rated this one star, so I won't reiterate them again. I won't be reading another book in this series.

Another great read from these two authors. Again, I would recommend J R Rain and Aiden James to all who enjoy these type of books.
