Product Description

LHB are the duo Giles Barton and Lee Wilson-Wolfe whose debut for a major, Tell 'Em Who We Are, has the potential to be one of the biggest-selling dance records of 2002. There is nothing particularly new or out of the ordinary about their style but the skill and creative ideals used to successfully blend so many different genres of dance in every song are rare talents. The opener "No Transmission" is a poppy brand of hip-hop-infused house with an organ hook reminiscent of Moby in a "simple-yet-fiendishly-catchy" way, and the tone of the album is pitched somewhere between the dance floor and your headphones. Further flirting with timbre can be found on "Coming Up for Air" where acoustic guitars, an ethereal vocal and a dirty electro bassline effortlessly mingle in a downbeat epic worthy of Massive Attack on a good day. You could go on forever drawing comparisons with other artists: the Beck-esque vocals of "Everybody Sees It in My Face"; or the easy-cheesin' lounge samples of the title track (think Kinobe). Though there may be similarities drawn between elements of other people's music, however, LHB find a way of making it their own, and in doing so they have made a record that is very easy to listen to.--David Trueman

5.0 out of 5 stars Everyone can see it on my face... that I luv LHB. 30 July 2002
Format:Audio CD
Saw some decks, some guys and some funky visuals at the Kylie concert in May 2002. Intrigued. Saw Imogen Heap and a guy (with vocal mystique) belt out some blinders that flipped my stomach over - you know that feeling you get when you're onto the next possible big thing? Obsessed. Bought the album & single the next day. This is the best album I have bought in ages; I can play it over & over on my CDPlayer sans cesse. Inspired. LHB. Yum.
"Everyone Sees It On My Face" is an amaaaazingly sexy dance track (snog2dance tune with a great vid), "Coming Up For Air" does a bit of the old Massive Attack vs. Zero 7 thingy - if you like the vocals, have a listen to Frou Frou (Imogen Heap and Guy Sigsworth combo). Also seriously dig "Sometimes", "Olivia Newton Christ" and "Calm Down". Aural pleasure imminent...

4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome! 9 Nov 2006

Brilliant, brilliant album. Am well late getting into these guys, but remember reading about them a few years ago. Anyone who gets this album will love it, and love it even more knowing that very few people will be in on the secret.

Buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Have For Any Music Lover! 10 Jan 2003
Format:Audio CD
This is the hidden gem from last year's album. LHB are quickly becomming the Saint Etienne of the dance world - cool, classy, quirky, but not creited enough for their talents. You may have seen them supporting Miss. Minogue on her KylieFever2002 Tour, aswell as Scandanavian chill-out masters, Royksopp.

Mixing pop, garage, techno and disco beats in one album with thoughtful samples - if less sporadic than The Avalanches - Tell 'Em Who We Are is truly a mixed-bag that works. Stand-out tracks include Sometimes (We Live In Cities), which features inventive vocoders mixed with the natural voice and No Transmission, using a digitalised guitar with traditional instruments.

If you like your music profgressive, yet fun and entertaining - buy this album. A blend of all styles, this is an CD you wont be disappointed with.

Trust me!
