A genuine slice of working class history,

This review is from: Tell it as it Was (Paperback)
This book is superb. What sets it apart from a lot of other autobiographies is its unique style. The author writes straight from the heart and geuinely does Tell it as it was. The dialect and colloquialisms used in the book gives the story an incredibly personal feel which adds to the overall emotional effect. It feels as if the author is sitting next to you, telling you her story. The book is moving and funny and really takes the reader away to a time and place far removed from today's luxuries.

Kathleen Hann has a great way with words !This is a very cleverly written autobiographical book. The style is rather unusual, but this actually adds quite a lot to the narrative. You start off by feeling that this lovely Granny is telling you a bedtime story, but this is a no holds barred story, warts and all. I particularly like the way she handles sensitive issues such as a death in the family (or even in a friends family !!) I eagerly await Kathleens next chapter in her life story.

This book will make you laugh and cry. The writer's colloqiual writing style puts you in a very personal and intimate position as a reader like no other authors have the guts to. It will leave you believing in true love and make you appreciate all that you have.
