More About the Author

Jacqueline Rayner is the author of several best-selling Doctor Who titles (her book 'The Stone Rose' holds the record for the highest sales of any Doctor Who novel), as well as other fiction and non-fiction, much of it TV-related. She lives in Essex with her husband and twin sons, and writes a regular column for Doctor Who Magazine about family life.

About Quick Reads:

"I've been lucky enough to write two Quick Reads, Doctor Who: The Sontaran Games in 2009 and Doctor Who: Magic of the Angels in 2012. Quick Reads is a wonderful initiative providing short, easy-to-read books for people who struggle to find the time for longer works or find them daunting. They aim to open up the world of words for those who've forgotten or never knew how much fun reading can be.

"I have a special reason to love Quick Reads. A few years ago, during a particularly bad bout of ill health, I found myself too unwell to read. This lasted for several months, and as someone who has spent almost every spare second reading for as long as I can remember, it was incredibly frustrating. Then one day my husband came home with a copy of Chickenfeed, a Quick Read by one of my favourite authors, Minette Walters. Slowly, page by page in my sick bed, I managed to get through it. The realisation that reading wasn't lost to me after all is something I'll always be grateful to Quick Reads for."

Product Description

Review

This book is very clear and easy to read. It is a great resource that can be used by ME patients and their carers to explain and inform others what it is like to be affected by ME/CFS. Not only children but adult relatives, friends and teachers would learn a great deal from this book. --Kathleen McCall, Chairman, Invest in ME

This is a clear and concise book that is straightforward to read. My children found it very helpful and have lent it to teachers and friends. A definite must have if anyone in the household or family have ME. It arrived quickly, and was well packaged. A+ transaction

I’ve had ME for twenty five years and always, always struggled to find the words to explain what it’s like to other people. Not just what the symptoms feel like, but how the stigma affects us, and how this illness invades every part of our lives. Can I tell you about ME/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome? is a new book that has just done it for me. What a relief! With guidance from Invest in ME, this book describes a fictional family in which Molly, the mum, has ME. It gives us her perspective and also that of her husband and children on the impact ME has on their lives. In a few beautifully simple chapters, it conveys everything we need our friends and loved ones to know and understand. Best of all the book is short, snappy, jargon-free and even child-friendly so you can thrust it into people’s hands and there’s no excuse for them not to read it!

Having had M.E. for 7 years, this book has helped me to understand my symptoms.

I have put off buying books about M.E./CFS because I find reading very difficult ad didn't want to waste money on something that I wouldn't use, but this book is very easy to read and even set out with the M.E. sufferer in mind. The text is large and there isn't to much writing on each page. This book would be suitable for children too!

There are things covered in this book that I didn't realise were M.E. symptoms, there is far more information in here than I have ever been told by a doctor.

I would be happy to give this to a friend and allow them to read it without any further explanation, it is always so difficult to explain things and I feel that most other publications require extra input from the sufferer which is tiring. This book dose all of the talking for me, and dose a better job than I could myself.

Everyone who has M.E. and knows someone who has the condition should read this book!
