This is considerably better than their debut album, although that was very fine indeed. This time there is such drive in the rhythms that you can't help moving - as Justin Adams points out early in their gigs, "This is dance music!"
You'll find African blues, Bo Diddly rockers and that inimitable world music feel throughout. The way Juldeh shows his virtuosity on one stringed fiddle will blow you away, and his vocals are very powerful too. The use of female backing vocalists adds an extra dimension on some tracks.
This is superb music - if you only buy one world music album this year, or even if you want an introduction to the genre, buy this - you won't be disappointed.
