Product Description

CD Description

Tell No Lies is the new sound of Justin Adams & Juldeh Camara. The sound of a nation with no borders, a place that needs no passport, no visa. This is where the deep roots of African music nourish the raw electric groove of rock and roll, where Gnawa spirit rhythms come up against Chicago distortion, where snaky N'awlins rhythm has a West London howl, and a Sahel Wail.

Acclaimed guitarist Justin Adams has produced and worked alongside the likes of Tinariwen (Radio Tisdas Sessions, Aman Iman), Jah Wobble, Natacha Atlas & Robert Plant. Juldeh has recorded & toured with Blind Boys Of Alabama and Seckou Keita.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Blues Again, 26 Jul 2009
Ok so I was driven to buy this album because I heard Justins great dirty guitar riff and his enthusiasm for the empathy between the two musicians. I've lost the blues thing,I guess because after a while it just gets to sound like all the rest of the plethora of rooty blues. Sorry I'm havng a 58 year old mid to end of life crisis, lifes too short to listen to this dreary stuff. Maybe it would be good live.Anyway I'm off to play some Feist and Camille.PS I do like Bill Frissel though!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Pleasant and respectful fusion..., 17 Jul 2009

... but if you haven't already got Justin Adam's "Desert Road", you might like to get that first. Same idea but (for me) more drive, direction and passion.

5.0 out of 5 stars A damn fine CD - no lie!, 10 Jul 2009

Having won awards with Soul Science, this one is even better! No 'difficult second album' blues here. These two get an enormous sound with (believe it or not) electric guitar and a Malian one-stringed violin. From essence of 70s Afro-rock to Bo Diddley versus the diddly bow, and a Tequila slammer thrown in, you won't regret getting this one bit!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous, powerful, eclectic music
This is considerably better than their debut album, although that was very fine indeed. This time there is such drive in the rhythms that you can't help moving - as Justin Adams... Read more
