Product Description

Book Description

In this delightful bedtime story, a young bear tells his mother all about his exciting day – in reverse – inspiring young listeners/readers to do the same.

Product Description

Just before going to bed, Timmy Bear and his mother play a game they call Tell Me the Day Backwards. Timmy tries to remember everything that happened to him that day in reverse order, from watching the sunset on the hill to the picnic supper before that, from being chased by bees to finding honey in an old tree trunk, all the way back to waking up that morning from his winter-long hibernation. A charming bedtime story sure to have parents and children sharing their own day – backwards – with each other.

This is a lovely, warm and gentle bedtime story with a slightly old fashioned feel. When Mummy Bear is putting Timmy Bear to bed, he asks if they can play the game they used to play last summer, where they tell the day backwards. What follows is a little bears adventures from the evening to the morning, when he woke up, which includes discovering butterflies, an anthill, lots of lovely honey, going swimming and having a picnic summer. The bears have just woken from their hibernation and Mummy Bear explains that tonight they will only sleep for one night, after their long winter sleep. This is a really enjoyable bedtime story and is great at helping young children to discuss their day and what is important to them too. A real winner for a lovely, cosy bedtime.

You can tell just from the cover that this is going to be the perfect bedtime story. Mama Bear is talking to Timmy Bear, who is tucked up in bed and the colours are muted, gentle and relaxing with a lovely old-fashioned feel - David McPhail has perfectly captured the feel of the story. . They play the game Tell the Day Backwards as Timmy recalls a very eventful day - and a very long sleep. A lovely reassuring book which gently conveys important messages. I think a lot of children will be 'telling the day backwards' once they have enjoyed this story.

Very cute 25 April 2011
By Becky
Format:Hardcover
This is a lovely hardback story book for pre-schoolers up to the ages of about 7. Early readers would probably find the very clear, large font a pleasure to read too. The picture illustrations are simply gorgeous and really add to the story telling.

In the story, Timmy Bear is going to bed and decides to have one last game wtih Mama Bear. The game is where they tell their day backwards. Its very cute; that is literally what they do. Timmy Bear has got into all sorts of scrapes theroughout the day and the tale gradually unfolds ..backwards!

It turns out that prior to this day the bears have had their `big sleep' so this book ties in very well with Spring and awakenings and helps to explain hibernation too.

A delightful fun book that make a child think. After reading this we told our own day backwards and have a few times since..loads of fun!
