Product Description

Telescopic Extendable Shower Curtain Rail for wall openings between 140cm and 260cm, Rust Resistant. No tools Required. PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS MX Telescopic Curtain Rail To install: Pull the inner tube out from the outer tube to approx 1.5 inches (4cm) longer than the gap you will be fitting the rail to (it will be very stiff to move as there is a spring loaded flange on the end to hold it in place, so you will need to exert a small amount of pressure to move it). You don't need to twist or turn anything - just pull the inner tube out. Make sure the rubber gripper is on each end and place one end on the wall with the other end above the horizontal line. Now press the other end down into place. The spring loaded mechanism will hold the rail in place. If you pull the rail out too far, you will need to pull it all the way through (it may squeak a bit, but that's quite normal). Pull it right out and feed it back in from the other end and repeat the fitting process. Please note: The end caps of this product are a specialised plastic to maximise grip when fitted. During shipping they may temporarily adopt a shape, which after fitting and in use in your bathroom, will re-form to the design shape. Alternatively, by immersing them in hot water, the end caps will resume their original shape prior to fitting.

2.0 out of 5 stars Garbage 4 Mar 2013

This is an abomination of a product. Mine didn't come with instructions, just 3 "simple" steps:

1. Measure the wall distance.
2. Draw out the tubes 2.5cm longer than the wall distance
3. Press the higher end down to horizontal level.

WTF??

Anyway, I can't fault the seller - the product was quickly dispatched and my request for proper instructions answered about a day and a half later. Unfortunately, I over-extended the rod after which I discovered (to my absolute horror) that the steps to reverse the procedure don't actually work. So now I'm stuck with a shower curtain mounted on an inclining rod positioned on two opposing corners of my shower wall, a DIY job so embarrassingly amateurish, it brings me disheartening shame everytime somebody needs to use my bathroom.

For your benefit, these are the actual instructions:

MX Telescopic Curtain Rail

To install: Pull the inner tube out from the outer tube to approx 1.5 inches (4cm) longer than the gap you will be fitting the rail to (it will be very stiff to move as there is a spring loaded flange on the end to hold it in place, so you will need to exert a small amount of pressure to move it). If you pull the rail out too far, you will need to pull it all the way through (it may squeak a bit, but that's quite normal). Pull it right out and feed it back in from the other end and repeat the fitting process.

I bought this because of the good reviews. It certainly arrived promptly but I can't make it work and there are no instructions. The 2 plastic ends fell off as i took it out of the plastic bag and the spring mechanism is stuck at one end and not connected to the inner cylinder which should extend. I presume I will have to return it which is really inconvenient unless anyone can offer any advice about what I am doing wrong.

After this I got in touch with the seller who emailed me instructions. I was able to push the inner cylinder firmly into the spring mechanism, so that the 2 were connected as intended, and then gradually withdraw it to the required length although it came disconnected again a couple of times. The plastic ends stay in place when the rail is in place. I do think that instructions should be included in the pack as the spring is so tightly stuck in the outer cyclinder it is not clear what to do and one is reluctant to use too much force. In the end this was the solutuion!

5.0 out of 5 stars Strong, smart and easy to fit 11 July 2012

This must be the neatest and easiest curtain rod ever. My bathroom spans 235cm, so it's close to the pole's limit of 260cm, but it is firmly in place and quite secure. I can hang a couple of shirts to dry on hangers, as well as the curtain, and it still seems secure. I had it up in place 10 minutes after opening the package (which was a strong cardboard tube, so no risk of damage in transit). I had to pull quite hard to slide the rod out to the required length, but I suppose that's just the flip side of having a strong, secure spring. Delivered just 2 days after placing the order, so satisfaction all round.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not easy to assemble as per guidelines 29 April 2014
By Joana

Although instructions claim you can simply reassemble it in case you pull the inner rod to far, you can't. I accidentally pulled it to far and then tried to reassemble it according to instructions and it was impossible. I had more then one person try it also, thinking it might just be my lack of diy skills, but no one else could do it either. I f you're looking for something super easy and clear, this isn't it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy to fit. Works a treat 11 Aug 2012

The simplest shower curtain rail I've ever fitted. Just pull to slightly longer than desire opening (mine was 2 metres), squeeze back in about an inch and wedge in place. Very strong spring mechanism keeps in place.

Loses one star as the plastic end caps are rigid plastic which surely cannot be the best gripping material for a tile or painted wall. Something softer in rubber would have been better. Also not sure why these end caps are grey? Surely white colour is more likely to match most bathrooms?
