I bought this Barlow lens to accompany a 3" reflector scope. It works well enough, but seems to have a cheap lens, as it has a bit of a prismatic effect. I use this to aid viewing, though, as I can use my focus knob to turn super-bright Venus into a hazy orange globe, making it better resemble the photos of the planet itself. I know it's not the real deal, but it works good as a show for the family, and I can still get a pretty decent focus out of this lens.
That being said, part of the poor performance could be due to my small scope. I understand that. But upon inspecting the lens, I can't hold my scope to blame, as it is perfectly crisp and clear on its own. So lens performance must be a fraction of a factor, as the poor performance is observable even at low power.
