But at the current Amazon offer, you just cannot lose. I am used to pressure cooking the scary way, but this little pot is a real gem. If you are afraid of pressure cookers, there's no need to worry about this. Very solid build and quality and quiet in operation. It still suprpises me how quickly it cooks. There is just one reservation, and that is the lack of a steamer insert. I bought a silicone steamer with interlocking handles, and this works quite well.

I have always been happy to use standard pressure cookers and appreciate their time and energy saving properties. The Tefal Wikook would be an ideal introduction for a beginner or the more wary- as it is so safe and simple to use- no fussing with weights etc.
It looks good and is useful in having a non-stick coating. It is also quite light compared to standard pressure cookers- the lid being the heaviest part.
I have been using it nearly every day and find that the non-stick and seals have lasted quite well- but only time will tell if I will be telling the same story in a years time!
It is quite expensive- and was only tempted to buy it as it was on a special offer, but have not been disappointed so far.

Update- a year since purchase and I am still very pleased with my Wikook- using it every day. Washes easily and the non- stick coating is still intact. Well worth the price

Got this wikook as we don't like pressure cookers having had the weight blow off the top on several occasions. What a fantastic cooker. Made a beef curry using stewing meat in half an hour after getting to pressure (Would have taken a couple of hours in the oven or microwave) and was cooked to perfection. Well worth the money. Arrived two days after placing the order. Usual excellent delivery service from amazon.

This is a great product, very easy to use and clean.

Simpler than a pressure cooker, but that means it can be used for foods that do not need intense high pressure cooking. All foods cooked in this have come out as desired; I have cooked brocoli to the point of tenderness and alternately a shorter cooking time lets brocoli retain crispness.

At first, I thought that I had to wait to release steam and that I would not be able to monitor how food is cooking, but the steam release is TOTALLY CONTROLLABLE WHENEVER YOU WANT to open the Wikook.

The only problem I experienced was not with the Wikook, but with waiting for the ceramic hob on my stove to warm up.

This is a highly recommended product.

Happy with item and does what you hope, which is to allow easy access pressure cooking, albeit at a lower one than a standard type.
This saves on time and is energy efficient Also it looks good and cleans easily.
Any gripes? well it does spray somewhat on pressure release and it would have been useful to include a trivet or some other food holder . I would say it is worth up to £50 and is a worthwhile addition to the kitchen.
p.s.Some other reviews stated that it took a long time to allow release of the lid but i have had no such difficulty . i think either the pressure release valve was set too high or that the cooker was being operated at excessive heat. i think it's best to keep the heat low once the operating pressure has been reached.(confirmed by an sound from the pressure release valve)

I bought this pressure cooker January 2011. I use it on my kitchen range two or three times a week. I had the old-style Prestige Pressure Cooker before, and for years I cursed the thing for being so difficult to clean. The non-stick, easy-clean, description attracted me to this Tefal model. I paid about £80 for this Tefal and it was worth it. It does the job and it needs only a swish under the hot tap to clean, or maybe a swizzel with a wash-up brush plus hot water under the tap. My Prestige used to cost a quite a bit in spares; the Tefal has cost me zero so far .... Buy it for trouble free fast cooking - but it is too small for a family. It is great if you are cooking for two ...

It does what it says on the tin, simple. It is what it says it is, i.e. it cooks food quickly and without fat.
