About Tefal
Tefal owes its origins to Frenchman Marc Grégoire, an engineer and keen fisherman. Monsieur Grégoire wanted the reel on his rod to run more smoothly, and experimented in the 1950s to see if a non-stick coating would work. It did, but it was his wife Collette who made the real breakthrough, suggesting the coating would be more useful in making cookware easier to use and clean. Now, Tefal is the number one name in non-stick products and small appliances, operating in more than 120 countries.Tefal remains committed to making household tasks easier and cooking results better, through a constant flow of new ideas, technology and innovation. Examples of that cutting-edge innovation can be seen in the ActiFry, the AirBake baking range and Tefal's unique Thermospot, which ensures your pans are always the perfect temperature to start cooking.

This review is from: Tefal Ultraglide FV4355 Steam Iron, 95 g Shot of Steam, 2200 Watts (Kitchen & Home)
I bought this iron and it lasted about 18 months. I was initially very pleased, it was light, easy to use, the plate was always clean and it did not spit limescale, which is good because I live in a hardwater area. However, it just stopped working and because it was out of guarantee I took it to a repair shop who told me it was the thermostat, but because it is built integrally with the other workings of the iron it would not be cost effective to repair. Very disappointing, not heavily used and I expect more from a company like Tefal, not to produce items which become landfill so quickly.

I had the same experience as the previous reviewer though I have not tried to get the iron repaired. It stopped working after 22 months of ordinary domestic use. There are a lot of good features to the design. I found it comfortable to use and stable when stood vertically - useful when its left to cool down. Until it stopped working I was happy with it.

Excellent Iron,

I have used the Tefal Ultra Glide irons for a number of years and will never use anything else. I have three kids, who seem to think that clothes should only be worn once and then washed, so I have a lot of ironing to do. These irons, in my opinion, are far superior to other brands due to the Ultra Glide soleplate. This means the iron does not stick to clothing, as has happened to me previously, and gives a smooth finish. In other words, the clothes do actually look ironed. The steam function is excellent and doesn't necessarily have to be at the max level to iron well. I would recommend the Tefal Ultra Glide to anyone.
