Product Description

Product Description

The clever scientists at Tefal have cracked breakfast with the eggcellent Toast N’ Egg.

The Toast N’ Egg revolutionises breakfast time by combining a toaster and egg cooker in one. You can have an egg or toast on its own, or combine the two for a breakfast sandwich in just four minutes.

This quirky gadget can poach your egg on a poaching tray for muffin-sized eggs, or hard boil them in a steamer tray.

The Toast N’ Egg has two wide slots for toasting, ideal for bread, muffins or bagels. The Toast N' Egg also features a warming tray for heating mushrooms, spinach or pre-cooked meats.

Tefal

Tefal owes its origins to Frenchman Marc Grégoire, an engineer and keen fisherman. Monsieur Grégoire wanted the reel on his rod to run more smoothly, and experimented in the 1950s to see if a non-stick coating would work. It did, but it was his wife Collette who made the real breakthrough, suggesting the coating would be more useful in making cookware easier to use and clean. Now, Tefal is the number one name in non-stick products and small appliances, operating in more than 120 countries.Tefal remains committed to making household tasks easier and cooking results better, through a constant flow of new ideas, technology and innovation. Examples of that cutting-edge innovation can be seen in the ActiFry, the AirBake baking range and Tefal's unique Thermo Spot, which ensures your pans are always the perfect temperature to start cooking.

I half expected this to be a bit gimmicky. I thought it would be a pain to clean and be fiddly to use, rendering it another kitchen gadget suitable for the back of a cupboard.

But how wrong I was!

I do probably use it for the exactly the reasons the designer had in mind, but it's perfect for that. The eggs are perfect muffin size and really easy to cook to the softness you like. Also, the 'round' part of bacon rashers match the size of the eggs and muffin too.

I'm always in a rush in mornings, but put in the right amount of water (using the measure provided) put the egg in the pan, the 2 muffin halves in the toaster and press the button. Then I can wander off or make a cuppa tea and it's all ready. I disagree with the review that said you have to watch it like a hawk to get the eggs soft. Plus, I need not have worried about cleaning it, it simply wipes clean.

I'm really happy with it, but must be honest, I haven't tried to boil eggs or used any large slices of bread. I haven't yet tried to cook bacon on the 'cooked meat heater' so not sure if they say you can only heat pre-cooked meats incase someone tries to cook a chicken breast on it and wonder why it's raw and they feel very ill!

I didn't buy it as a regular toaster replacement, but as a quick and warm alternative to eating cereal for breakfast.

If you add a slice of cheese and rasher of bacon you have a much better version of a McMuffin, in my opinion.

This product is genius.

PERFECT for the student life - all I have to buy are a box of eggs and some bread - Then I have a weeks worth of breakfast for less than 20p a day.

It poaches and boils eggs, which gives you some variety - plus it takes roughly the same amount of time as cooking the egg on a hob.

The cleaning is simple - takes less than 5 mins to clean - I clean it every 3 days.

ONE DOWN-SIDE - it only poaches one at a time - I usually have 2, so I am ok, but it is not ideal for a family/group breakfast poaching.

BUT - it does boil 4 at a time - which is why my Parents bought one - they have 2 boiled eggs each in the morning.

This appliance is a MUST HAVE FOR STUDENTS.

We are extremely impressed with this product, after the first go we had got our poached eggs just right. With boiled eggs you need a tiny bit less water than stated on the measuring jug but it's still a great invention. Just one thing like another reviewer said, shame it doesn't do 2 poached eggs at a time. Toaster is fab too and will take really thick slices of bread. Well worth the money!

The tefal toast n egg was recommended to us by a friend who is very particular and if this was just a gimmick she would be the first to say
but it works perfect boiled eggs everytime only down side is that the toast is ready before the egg but i get round this by turning the toasted down low and swith it on at the same time as the egg and then when the egg is ready pop the toast down again while you are peeling the egg or whatever you r doing with it and the toast is perfect
enjoy this gadget it is great

I am really impressed with this. It takes no time at all to make poached egg on toast. You can choose the softness or hardness of the egg by the measuring jug provided.

Bad Points? I too wish it did 2 poached eggs at once.

Very pleased with it and have recommended it to most of my friends.

Tefal Toast 'n' Egg TT550015 Toaster and Egg Maker
Just such a good idea and it really works!! Such a clever combination. Looks really good and makes the best even toast .Takes a bit of experience to get the egg cooked the way you like ,but simple enough to work out the timing.
If you like the idea get one. LB.

This item does what it says on the box.It toasts the bread well and poaches or boils the eggs efficiently. One point the poaching tray needs oiling or the egg sticks and it is fiddly to clean well.

The egg poacher work well although to be honest after the first week not used it that much as it's a bit fiddly. My issue is with the toasting. Why do toaster manufacturers insist on making toasters that are too small to toast the size of bread we typically buy. Even a bagel ends up with a white top. I did consider buying the 'oversize' toaster by tefal which states it fits a typical slice of bread - so they've spotted the issue with toasters but only apply the logic to certain models - crazy!
