Product Description

Product Description

All the pans in the new Sensorielle range feature Tefal's latest and best Intensium non stick coating for cooking without oil, and the unique Thermo Spot.

Intensium is made up of an extra hard mineral base, fused to nine layers of non stick coating. Intensium is metal utensil safe and offers superior durability.

The coating works with Tefal's Thermo Spot, which glows solid red to let you know when your pan is pre-heated to 200 degrees, the optimum temperature to start cooking, to help add a touch of the professional to any cook. There’s no risk of the pan overheating or underheating with the Thermo Spot, you can sear your food at just the right temperature to seal in the flavour in the same way a professional chef would.

Like all the pans in the Sensorielle range, the 28cm stirfry pan features a high-performance anti-warp Resistal base, which is infused with copper particles for extremely effective heat distribution. The base is resistant to thermal shocks, so it won't warp if you put it under a cold tap while it's still hot. The base is suitable for gas and electric hobs.

The pans have aluminium bodies for even heat distribution, avoiding hot spots that could cause food to burn, and the non stick exterior is easy to clean.

The pans have curved comfort handles, and are dishwasher and ovensafe to 180 degrees.

About Tefal

Tefal owes its origins to Frenchman Marc Gregoire, an engineer and keen fisherman. Monsieur Gregoire wanted the reel on his rod to run more smoothly, and experimented in the 1950s to see if a non-stick coating would work. It did, but it was his wife Collette who made the real breakthrough, suggesting the coating would be more useful in making cookware easier to use and clean. Now, Tefal is the number one name in non-stick products and small appliances, operating in more than 120 countries.Tefal remains committed to making household tasks easier and cooking results better, through a constant flow of new ideas, technology and innovation. Examples of that cutting-edge innovation can be seen in the ActiFry, the AirBake baking range and Tefal's unique Thermospot, which ensures your pans are always the perfect temperature to start cooking.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tefal; my family loves you :) 23 Oct 2011
By Amanda TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
I've used Tefal pans for years now, as they seem to last forever and the 'thermo spot' is one of those rare gimmicks that actually works. In fact, it was my own negligence that lead to the demise of my old Tefal stir fry pan [a delivery man knocked at the door and I forgot to turn of the cooker before I went to open the door] - I'd had it for years, in fact I can't even remember how many years I'd had it, it was so good.

Very good has now got even better as this new version is so non-sticky that you really don't even need to use oil when cooking. A favourite dish in our house is pepper stir fried in oil and honey, with cooked rice added in at the last minute to soak up the sweetness of the oil infused honey. I wasted no time in trying out my new Tefal pan and have found that I can indeed now skip the oil from the process, so the dish is healthier AND the sweetness of the honey is much more intense. A well-loved family favourite improved, without any increase in cookery prowess from me.

I now plan on trying more dishes using my new stir fry pan, as I already trust the brand, know that the latest gimmick works and have the piece of mind of knowing that no oil = healthier, taster dishes.

5.0 out of 5 stars It certainly does stir fry 15 Nov 2011

Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
Before anyone gets the wrong idea, I do not feature on master chef, but in our kitchen we have three sources for heating food: the aga, a halogen hob (for in the summer when the aga would make our kitchen unbearable) and one of those portable gas cookers which are ideal for stir frys.

I have yet to find a wok or similar which is good with an AGA, unless it was one of the AGA woks which are now discontinued. These were expensive and needed pre-heating in the oven first and to be honest were not worth the money, the burnt palms or the time that they took to cook things. Let's face it AGA are not really designed for stir frys but I have to admit, this pan and the AGA have worked together very well and the red spot worked too. Onto the halogen, again no problems, food cooked well and I must admit it was easier than with the AGA. Finally onto the portable gas cooker and there is no question about it, stir fry and gas are the ideal combination. So why 5 stars? Well it does work on all three types of cookers that we use, for the price it is well constructed, the non-stick really does work and it is very durable. The red spot, particularly on the AGA is invaluable as whatever people say, the AGA is not as hot as gas.

Onto the cooking experience, the pan is light enough to toss vegetables yet it feels like a quality pan and does cook food well with the minimum of oil. A good addition to our kitchen.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good quality, not too heavy 26 Oct 2011
By Marand TOP 500 REVIEWER
Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
This is a good quality pan, nice size and weight. The excellent non-stick surface means you don't need much oil. The red dot feature, indicating the right temperature for cooking, is something I've not come across before but this is a useful feature rather than a pointless gimmick. The handle is also well-designed for tossing food.

I am in the middle of relocating and for the first time I am using a ceramic/glass hob. The underside of this pan is slightly dimpled but doesn't seem to have scratched the surface of the hob. NB this pan is not suitable for induction hobs. Although the pan can be put in the dishwasher, there is a warning about the exterior surface becoming dulled and dis-coloured. I know from other Tefal pans that I have owned that the dishwasher does damage the exterior, although it hasn't affected the performance of the pans in use, so I will, at least for the time being, hand wash.

Looks good and solid for use on halogen hob; hard to judge ultimate quality until we see how long it stays 'non-stick'.
