Tefal
Tefal owes its origins to a Frenchman, Marc Grégoire, and his wife, Colette. M. Grégoire, a keen fisherman, wanted to make his rod reel in more smoothly and, in the 1950's, experimented to see if a non stick coating might provide the answer. It did! But it was his wife who made the real breakthrough by gently suggesting that coating the cooking pans would have a more worthwhile application by making them easier to cook with and simpler to clean. Now, Tefal is the number one name in non-stick products and small appliances, operating in over 120 countries. Tefal remains committed to making household tasks easier and cooking results better, through a constant flow of new ideas and technology.

Promises more than it delivers,
This review is from: Tefal Quick Cup - Hot and Cold Water in 3 Seconds (Kitchen & Home)
This is my second review of this product as I thought an update was needed after my first one. You cannot place a second review of a product so I have had to replace my original one by editing it. My original review was placed on the 19th Aug and now, less than two months later, I have a replacement in my kitchen because the first just stopped working. It stopped mid-flow, whilst filling a mug and the red light stayed on. It banged as though something blew electrically but the fuse was still fine as the red power light was on. I thought it would be interesting to see if the second product was just as noisy and spurty and vibrated as much. It doesn't.
This is slightly quieter and smoother as it dispenses water and the water flows in more of a continuous stream than the broken version, although not completely smoothly. Perhaps that one was always faulty. The new one splashes a little less than the previous one but still splashes nontheless. I still have to wipe the worktop dry. Great I thought, until I drank my coffee. Yes this one is smoother in dispensing the water without the spurts of steam but it is not hot. If you don't drink it as soon as it is made it is too cold within minutes. If you don't have milk then you may be ok but I do. I suspect the dispensing shortfall of the previous version was due to it heating up the water to a higher temperature but that is what a kettle is for, isn't it? Add 20 seconds in a 900 Watt microwave and our energy savings with this product are being cancelled out. The added inconvenience of reheating is something I may have suspected if this was a cheap product by an unknown brand but it is a premium price over many kettles on the market. It is no accident that the advertisement for this product on TV shows a graphical simulation of how this product works rather than a real product actually dispensing hot water. My wife reminded me that the first Quick Cup I bought had to go back to the shop because a piece of the plastic water container was broken off in the box when we got it home so in fact we are on our third Quick Cup. When I took this one back with the receipt, the sales assistant asked "hadn't I already returned this?" Only two out of the three I've brought home have been used and so far it scores zero out of two. I can't change my original rating of 3 stars because I am editing an original review but now I would rate this one or two stars. A second star for a good idea badly executed. Don't get suckered in by the carbon footprint guilt trip, until there is a product released that works effectively. Yes, strictly speaking, water for coffee shouldn't be boiling but we wouldn't dream of using the water out of our hot water taps. My latest model doesn't seem too far from that temperature and I should really take it back for a refund. It's not fit for purpose... I think they say.

I have only had mine for 24 hours but am completely satisfied with it.
I have deliberated for a while about buying this due to the amount of negative feedback everywhere, but I think it works just fine & I drink a lot of tea being at home by myself all day. I don't think its the machine at fault, I think we need to change our methods instead. We are so used to making drinks & going off to do another small job while it cools down to drinkable temperature & you cant really do that with this, the answer is just make it when you want to drink it instead & it works just fine. Just a case of getting used to something new, but I have only had it one day so keep your fingers crossed!! ** Update, after 3 weeks I still love it but I have had a problem with small cracks appearing around the water container handle, I emailed Tefal & they are sending me a new container out free of charge but would advise anyone to fill these using a jug with the container in situ, not fill & then carry to the machine, Oh & the filter needs changing already but other than that its great, have now done Tea, Coffee, Soup, Gravy, Pot Noodles all with no problems so I would still buy one. Oh & if you get any problems, Talk to Tefal their customer service with me has been brilliant!!!

Unquestionably the best device for making the worst possible tea,

Had I paid attention to my own advice and read all the other comments here, I would have known that the 'Quick Cup' is known for turning into a 'No Cup' not long after you buy it. Mine broke just a fortnight after I wrote the review below, and I'm now going to have to go through the fuss of replacing it. Stick with your kettle!
*** Drop a thermometer into a mug of freshly produced Quick Cup water and it'll barely register 85 degrees. Frankly I've had baths in warmer stuff. Those of you who understand what you need for a proper cuppa will know that the water must be boiling hot (as in 'not 85 degrees'), and if you read the rest of the comments here -- the majority of which identify the exact same flaw -- you will not make the same mistake as the people who wrote them and will wisely steer clear of such a poorly implemented great idea. Those of you who don't mind drinking tea that looks and tastes like you've held a cup under the drain from your sink, highly recommended. P.S. It makes really awful Pot Noodles as well. The noodles won't cook if they're not boiled, so you end up with something not far removed from cockroach legs in stagnant water. It's not pleasant. P.P.S. I realise that admitting to eating Pot Noodles pretty much invalidates my opinion on anything but I was hungry.
