Food mixers and kitchen gadgets are my thing! For some people its computers, for others its sport - but for me its gadgets like this! Sad I know but hey thats just me!
First off, this Tefal cannot be compared to a Kitchenaid or Kenwood Chef. There is no question that these are the market leaders and offer almost perfection. However, this offering from Tefal is cracking value for money (£130 at time of writing). The normal RRP of £199 is expensive for this item but whilst its on special offer then its a good deal. The build quality seems pretty robust and its actually quite compact in comparison to some of the other brands so its ideal for smaller kitchens.
The tools are very solid and are easy to attach. I also like the coating on the whisk which helps prevent scratches on the the inside of the mixing bowl. The speed dial and other buttons are easy to operate and are simple in their design.
The blender performs well, although its abit noisy. The mixer itself manages to get to most parts of the bowl so this reduces the amount of time needed to scrape the sides down with a spatula. I have to be honest and say that I have used mixers that perform better but they cost alot more to begin with so I can forgive the Tefal for this slight inconvenience, I keep my spatula at the ready!
It does come with a slicer / shredder attachment which is abit fiddly to use but its a bonus item really as most mixers dont come with any additional attachments at all.
To sum up this mixer its great value, performs well and whilst there are better mixers out there this should be perfectly adequate for an occasional baker. If you bake alot then you may want to consider spending abit more on a Kenwood or if moneys not a problem then a Kitchenaid.
