The great steam performance of the Program 8 removes the most stubborn creases.

The double integrated anti-scale helps maintain the steam iron for a longer life.

Tefal

Tefal owes its origins to a Frenchman, Marc Grégoire, and his wife, Colette. M. Grégoire, a keen fisherman, wanted to make his rod reel in more smoothly and, in the 1950's, experimented to see if a non stick coating might provide the answer. It did! But it was his wife who made the real breakthrough by gently suggesting that coating the cooking pans would have a more worthwhile application by making them easier to cook with and simpler to clean. Now, Tefal is the number one name in non-stick products and small appliances, operating in over 120 countries. Tefal remains committed to making household tasks easier and cooking results better, through a constant flow of new ideas and technology.

2.0 out of 5 stars Expensive Gimmick, 19 Sep 2008
By 72 "DC" (Scotland) - See all my reviews
When my old iron gave up the ghost I spent a bit of time looking round for something that would do the job well for a number of years. I bought this iron for the high steam output, quick temperature adjuster mechanism and fast rear fill and was prepared to pay the £70 asking price as I didn't plan on replacing the iron for anumber of years. I was very dissapointed.

The overall construction of this iron was not bad but cheap plastic has been used for the temperature control paddles. After 4 months of light use, you guessed it, the lever became stuck and then snapped off as I tried to change the temperature setting.

If you do get one of these only fill it with water when cold otherwise you run the risk of scalding yourself. As you fill water at the rear of the iron, the sole plate is by necessity horizontal with the ironing board and spews steam out as you fill it. I nearly scalded myself a couple of times as I was used to filling regular irons when upright with no steam.

The iron also suffered from a drip problem which annoyingly stained clothes during ironing so they had to be washed again.

For over £70 for a steam iron bits should not break off or filling it with water cause potential injury! The iron is going back to Amazon to be replaced by a more conventional model.

5.0 out of 5 stars It makes ironing so easy, 19 Nov 2008
After reading the only review about this iron i was very tempted to return it!!
However my ironing pile was growing so i gave it a try.It is a brilliant heavy iron which glides over the clothes with a minimum of effort. I carried on ironing well into the evening actually enjoying the satisfaction it gave me... I cant believe i just said that. The steam continued for well over an hour then i refilled after it had cooled as it states in the instructions. It has a lovely long lead and all the features my previous professional iron had.
I am slighty worried about the plastic temp control switch but will have to wait to see how long it lasts, hopefully for many many many more hours of ironing.
I have now cleared my ironing pile which had become a feature in my conservatory for many months... so it must be good.

4.0 out of 5 stars This iron always makes me smile, 13 Oct 2009
By J. Phillips (Scotland) - See all my reviews
    (REAL NAME)
I have been ironing for years with many different irons belonging to various friends and girlfriends. This is the first iron that I bought for myself and I am very pleased with it. It glides well and has a good weight to it. The controls are easy to use and refilling is a doddle. It feels well built and performs just right.

But most of all, I like the eponymous temperature setting "8, Power Jeans". This is the top temperature setting above the standard "7, Maximum". If you have seen the film Spinal Tap, you will know why this makes me smile. No, I haven't yet dared to set this beast to 8. But who irons jeans, anyway?
