Tefal Fryers now come with a raft of features that make keeping them clean a breeze, Tefal have fully researched what consumers want from their fryers and what gives them the biggest headache. Not surprisingly, changing the oil topped the list of problems along with keeping the fryer clean. Tefal's Oleoclean range answers both of these key requirements. With a clear explanation of the benefits of this new technology, the fryer market will be revitalised. Further innovations from Tefal in 2005 have included the development of the exclusive touch free oil filtration system with the Oleoclean range. This filtration system allows the user to set the fryer to automatically filter the used oil, once it has cooled, into the integrated oil storage container. The electrical elements of these fryers are then easily removed, leaving the rest of the fryer to be cleaned safely by the dishwasher.

How does the Tefal 100% Exclusive Automatic Oil Filtration System work?
1) Flick the switch for 100% automatic oil filtration
2) The filtration system automatically filters the dirty oil bits through the sieve leaving only clean oil in the storage pot
3) Remove the oil container and simply place the oil storage container in the fridge for use next time
4) Easy to clean all non-electrical parts are dishwasher safe
5) The electronic oil display shows the oil temperature and indicates when the oil is due for changing

Other features:
The Pro Fry Oleoclean has a great 3.3 litre oil capacity and 1.2kg food capacity and an adjustable thermostat for different foods. Its carry handles allows for safe and easy movement around your kitchen. The stainless steel washable filter in the lid means no awful odours through your kitchen when frying. The removable lid features a viewing window to save having to lift the lid every time to check your cooking. All non-electrical parts are also dishwasher safe.

Dishwasher Safe: One of the biggest downsides to deep fryers is that they are very difficult to clean. This particular fryer is totally dismantable and all non-electrical parts can be safely put into a dishwasher or immersed in water for cleaning. There is a permanent filter in the lid which again is dishwasher safe.

    The fryer does brilliant chips and takes apart totally for washing, which is great. When I removed it from the dishwasher after the first time of washing the basket and handle screws were both beginning to show signs of rusting. I returned / re-purchased the item. The new one shows no signs of the dreaded rust, but started to leak oil after 3 uses, the seal around the drain filter seems to have become faulty. So as much as we all love the chips and the ability to totally take apart I think I'll look for another model that doesn't have the ability to drain into a container as in reality you can only drain about five or six times before replacing the oil and storing in the plastic container isn't a huge benefit. I would consider another Tefal, but without the filtering option as the temperature and timing controls are both brilliant, the basket is a good size and the chips were perfect everytime. I would recommend ensuring that the shop you purchase from has a good after sales service as Tefal weren't interested when I called regarding the rust, and said I had to go back to the shop. I would have been happy to have replaced just the basket, but that wasn't an option.

    There is always a danger when you buy something you haven't seen in the flesh, as it were. Firstly this fryer is huge. It only just fits under my top cupboards on the counter top. The rear controls are impossible to use at the end of cooking because the steam coming out stops you reaching them - it's obviously scalding! You turn off by pulling the plug out of the socket.

    I was going to try elsewhere than Tefal after other poor experiences but was tempted to go for this fryer because of the unique draining system designed to make cleaning easier. Draining works very well; after that it goes awry. You must be very careful in lifting the flat oil container out and away: it's awkward to handle when full. 3 litres of oil weigh more than you think especially in that wide, long, flat container.
    Cleaning the unit was easy. Mind you, I've only done it once.
    In the dishwasher, a quick wipe afterwards and bingo. Clean.
    Then comes the bit where you add the oil back again. Whoever designed that operation should be shot. It spilled out and over the fryer, counter top and floor. Wonderful. Half an hour on my hands and knees cleaning up later and I don't know if can go through that again.

    Yes, it does make grand chips and is a good family size - too big for small kitchens - but the oil issue is unforgivable and with the awkwardly sited controls I'll be looking to replace this unit as soon as possible. For me anyway a great waste of money.

    I felt compelled to write this review having read the experiences of others.
    I have very frequently used my fryer and I haven't experienced any of the problems that the other reviewers found. Neither of them pointed out that if you drain the oil into the base unit every time you use it there is the added benefit of the oil being filtered each time - then simply pop it in your dishwasher and recycle the oil - simple!
    In use the fryer is excellent - as I said, I haven't had any problems and it produces fabulous results.
    A great product - so good that I found the reviews whilst looking for a second fryer for my holiday home!
