Non-Stick Exterior – These aluminium pots and pans have strong non-stick outer, making the pans easy to clean both inside and out.

Stainless Steel Stamped Base – the heavy gauge aluminium achieves optimum heat distribution with the stainless steel stamped base ensuring durability. Suitable for all heat sources including induction, this specially designed base delivers impressive results.

Bakelite Handles – handles with polished stainless steel inserts are oven proof up to 180c.

Glass Lids – For easy monitoring, with stainless tell rims for added style.

Thermo-spot – Tefal’s unique heat indicator lets you know when your pan is pre-heated to the right temperature to seal the flavour in your food.

Tefal owes its origins to a Frenchman, Marc Grégoire, and his wife, Colette. M. Grégoire, a keen fisherman, wanted to make his rod reel in more smoothly and, in the 1950's, experimented to see if a non stick coating might provide the answer. It did! But it was his wife who made the real breakthrough by gently suggesting that coating the cooking pans would have a more worthwhile application by making them easier to cook with and simpler to clean. Now, Tefal is the number one name in non-stick products and small appliances, operating in over 120 countries. Tefal remains committed to making household tasks easier and cooking results better, through a constant flow of new ideas and technology.

These pans are superb quality at an excellent price. They feel very substantial with comfortable handles but are not too heavy in use. The non-stick surface of the pans performs extremely well; I must admit we stick to plastic tools although Tefal claim that metal tools can be used. The two frypans have Tefal's thermo-spots in the centre which do work, and the sides of the pans are higher than many frypans, which is really useful. The main reason we purchased these pans was for use on an induction hob, and we have not been disappointed. Some of the cheaper pans we looked at had quite small diameter bases whereas the Preference pans have larger diameter bases more suited to the working areas on the hob.

We've always used ikea pans in the past mainly because they were cheap, which we now realise was a false economy as we had to replace them every two years.

So far these Tefal Preference pans have been exceeded my expectations and performed very well. Nice heavy pans which evenly distribute the heat when cooking and makes food cook quicker. They are very dishwasher friendly. Not tried any metal utensils on them but it states that you can.

Came with free delivery and well packaged from amazon. Very pleased with my purchase.

It is now about 10 months since I've got this set, and I have to admit that I'm not happy at all. Let's list it all.

Good things:
- look: it looks very good when new, saucepans are still like new with just minor wear in the middle of non-stick surface.
- feel: everything feels good: well made, solid, moderately heavy bases (way better than aluminium brothers) (I would prefer them to be even heavier, but it must be personal, so doesn't count). Handles are strong and steady. Lid handles started to wiggle after a few weeks, but it was easily fixed with a screwdriver in seconds, so it doesn't count. Simply put, set feels good.

Bad things:

- lids. Very bad. Three things:
- handles - they are piping hot! And I mean it. Even that plastic bit which you are supposed to touch. The metal bit circle at the top is even hotter. So my wife uses oven gloves to operate lids (and it doesn't work well because of next point, see below), while I just drop it quickly onto a cooking surface to avoid burns.
- handles again - they leak condensed water! It means what when you take off a lid and turn it 90 degrees (so it's vertical), a boiling (just condensed) water starts to leak from gaps in between metal bit and plastic, and from gaps in between plastic and glass. It means that even if you used oven gloves to take lid off, boiling water will still get to your fingers though the glove! (and you'll have not just drop a lid itself, but also take off a glove to avoid burns)
- "stainless tell rims for added style" as they describe it. These tend to gather condensed water, so when you take a lid off, there is plenty of water in it. Place a lid onto table without tilting - and water will slowly leak onto your table (plenty of it).

Like many reviewers before, I bought these for use with my induction hob.
I have to say that I am extremely impressed with them.
I have bought expensive pans in the past, but these have to be the best yet.
I shall be buying more from the 'Preference' range in the future.

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful! OK, they're pricier than some of the cheaper ranges but worth every penny. I spoke to the most helpful customer advice lady at Tefal who advised me to prime them with cooking oil before use and at regular intervals. I wash them by hand and it is sooooo easy. I have already bought another item in the range and will be going back for more!

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
Tefal is one of the top names in cookware, having become well-established over the years for producing good quality, classic cookware. What you get with this set of pans illustrates why they are leaders in their field.
I have never been one to get excited over something so commonplace as pots and pans, but after years of using cheaper cookware I decided that I should try a higher-quality set, and I have noticed the difference immediately.
This is a good standard 5 piece set containing the following: 21cm Frypan; 26cm Frypan; 16cm Milkpan; 18cm Casserole/Saucepan with lid; 20cm Casserole/saucepan with lid.
Classically designed (Black with stainless steel inset handles)they would fit in with most Kitchen decor. Non stick interiors and exteriors, they not only look great but feel good to use. The lids are clear with steam-venting knob, and all pans have the rather clever Tefal 'Thermo-spot' feature, which is a red design on the base that becomes solid when the pan is fully heated, thus allowing accurate cooking time and preheating. The bases adopt induction technology so are suitable for induction hobs, being of hardbase 'prometal pro'material.
When buying kitchenware, most of us want something that will last a long time and still look good years later. I think that is what you get here. I am certainly pleased with my set (it makes me want to cook more!!)...and they are even easy to clean. No more cheap pans for me!!! Recommended +++
