The Tefal Express Compact GV7096 steam generator is Tefal's most compact steam generator, making storage less of a hassle. Furthermore, equipped with Tefal's unique Ultraglide ceramic soleplate, this iron offers unrivalled glideability, superior scratch resistance, easy cleaning and optimum steam diffusion. Thanks to its 5 bar high pressure, the GV7096 offers 120g/minute continuous and variable steam. And with only a two minute heat-up time, it offers almost immediate use.

Easy Maintenance with anti-scale

Like all Tefal's steam generators, the GV7096 features the unique anti-calc collector to keep the appliance scale-free. The water across much of the UK is very hard, and scale can build up and affect the performance of appliances. To combat the problem, Tefal has developed technology which changes the scale inside the boiler unit of the steam generator into a solid form, which is collected at the side of the generator for easy disposal.

Similarly, the Express Compact is equipped with a 1.6 litre water tank which is continuous fill, so the steam generator does not have to be turned off before refilling. The three-metre cord gives you plenty of manoeuvrability, and tucks away into a compartment when the ironing is done for easy and tidy storage.

Ultraglide Ceramic soleplate for unrivalled glideability

As previously mentioned, the GV7096 features Tefal’s Ultraglide ceramic soleplate, which offers unrivalled glideability, superior scratch resistance and easy cleaning. The active lines in the soleplate ensure excellent heat distribution and reduced surface resistance.

The Compact also offers a vertical steam function, ideal for getting creases out of suits or other hanging garments and can also be used to de-crease curtains.

Safety & Portability

The GV7096 is equipped with Tefal’s Easycord system, which prevents the cord from rucking up and keeps it away from your hands and the clothes while ironing. It also features a lock system, so you can safely carry the appliance by the handle with one hand. The Express Compact has a 12-month warranty, supported by strong domestic guarantees and after sales service.

About Steam Generators

A steam generator is the most powerful type of ironing solution available. The appliances work by generating steam in a separate boiler unit and pumping it through the iron's soleplate into the clothes. The extra pressurised steam means steam generators cut ironing time in half compared to conventional steam irons, and produces a fantastic crease-free finish. The pressure is measured in bars, the higher the pressure, the deeper the steam penetrates into the fabric, leading to a better result. The steam generator's steam output is indicated in grams per minute (g/min), so the higher the output, the more steam is generated.

About Tefal

Tefal owes its origins to Frenchman Marc Grégoire, an engineer and keen fisherman. Monsieur Grégoire wanted the reel on his rod to run more smoothly, and experimented in the 1950s to see if a non-stick coating would work. It did, but it was his wife Collette who made the real breakthrough, suggesting the coating would be more useful in making cookware easier to use and clean. Now, Tefal is the number one name in non-stick products and small appliances, operating in more than 120 countries. Tefal remains committed to making household tasks easier and cooking results better, through a constant flow of new ideas, technology and innovation. Examples of that cutting-edge innovation can be seen in the ActiFry, the AirBake baking range and Tefal's unique Thermo Spot, which ensures your pans are always the perfect temperature to start cooking.

Well I have to start by saying I was definitely NOT going to purchase another Tefal after my previous generator which I purchesed approx 6 yrs ago. The cord began unravelling and exposed the rubber tubing which the very hot water travels through, and I kept burning my arm on it !! My warrenty had expired, and it was too costly to send back, and quite frankly thought I'd just revert back to my usual steam iron and dump the generator.

Whilst on hols this year my son's girlfried very kindly did his ironing for him using my iron, and commented to him that I should get one of those generator irons like her mum has which make the job so easy. I explained I used to have one and the problem that made me chuck it.
Anyway it got me thinking that maybe I should give one another try and maybe technology has improved further and so I started the research adament that I wont be buying another Tefal. I looked at ALL the comments and prices and I have to say this model got the best reviews, AND the best price was on Amazon. Cant believe Comet was advertising it for 3 times the price.!!

What I particularly liked is this iron is very light as the water is held in the base, plus the base sits on the floor and not on the ironing board like my previous which is much better. The steam output is brilliant and also has an eco button if you dont need as much steam. I am so impressed with it that I had to write to let others know this really is a great iron. Now I look for excuses to iron !!! the only down side is its no good for a woman my age (50s) having hot flushes !!! its like being in a sauna the amount of steam that it creates !! I definitely wouldn't go back to my old heavy iron now, which did an OK job, except on 100 % cotton items !!

I'm not massive fan of ironing, so anything that will make life easier gets my vote.

Heats up very quickly, produces masses of steam, and it seems to eat its way though creases. The water tank has a 1.6 litre capacity and is more than enough for any session of ironing that I would want to do. There is a de-calc but I always use filtered water so de-calc is less of an issue. You do have to hold the steam button under the handle if you want steam but that suits me as you don't have steam pumping out when you don't need it.

It does take up quite a bit of space, but I always leave it on the floor so not too much of an issue. The lead can get quite warm, not burning hot, but something to watch out for. A bit loud but only on & off.

I would recommend the Tefal Anti Clac steam generator, it's is very effective, it is a bit bulky, but worth it if you have loads to do and hate ironing.

The lock is great to carry the iron safely. Filling is very easy but the best thing is that it has such a large water capacity that the steam facility lasts a long time and it doesn't need re filling every 5 minutes. Light but heavy enough for an excellent result. I previously had a different make but this is well worth the extra cost.

Never thought I'd say that! This iron takes all the hard work out of ironing, proves the point that you get what you pay for. Well worth investing in a quality iron. Great purchase.

Wow, what an impressive iron. Very easy to set up, ready to use in a couple of minutes. I love how you can control the steam by the button underneath the handle. Creases disappear with no effort at all. Once you fill the tank up, the water lasts for your whole ironing session, not like the ordinary steam irons which need to be filled quite frequently, this also mean the iron is not so heavy as the water is in the base not the actual iron. Can't think of anything bad to say about this iron, just wishing I had bought it long ago.

This has been a good iron, occasionally spits out brown bits which can ruin white clothes. Evidently this is a common thing with this iron. I have noticed it is getting worse and have found the sole plate holes getting blocked with brown calcium deposit. I phoned tefal for advice how to clean the soleplate, I was told it cannot be cleaned and needs replacing at a cost of £60.00 + VAT., or have a 40% discount on a new iron.
This iron is appx 18 months old and has been looked after; the calcium anti calc has been cleaned regularly.
For a not cheap iron £127.00 this in my opinion is not good enough, it should last a lot longer than 18 months. I will not be buying a tefal product again, I spent a lot of money on one of their no fat fryers, this broke within 6 months.
