At the risk of sounding like a total maverick, I think this product is truly wonderful but the instruction booklet that comes with it is pretty rubbish at explaining how to operate it properly.

What people don't seem to realise is that you have to make sure you press the power button right down for the revolving grater/slicer to be fast enough to cut and NOT MASH!

The other thing you have to do is SIMULTANEOUSLY push the feeder down with some force. In other words, you have to operate the thing at the correct speed and do 2 things at once.

This is most clearly illustrated on a couple of YouTube videos by owners of the machine. The official advertising video does not explain the need for full speed on the grater/slicer either. (Would add tho that I don't endorse the Joe Public guy in the video putting his fingers down into grater shoot while its running, without using the feeder!)

When I first used this machine I did what everyone else did, I hardly pressed the button down and hardly pushed the feeder down, result was mashed up food.

I am well into healthy salads with loads of crunchy veg and have found the large grater to be really good at producing nice munchy carrots, cucumbers, mushrooms and red peppers etc. I do not agree that the machine does not like veg with skin, or that it cannot cope with wetter salad items, this is incorrect. However, it is not suitable for tomatoes. I would add, you need to put in a decent sized chunk of veg tho, not little scraps!

The other thing its really good at, is slicing potato discs finely enough to make homemade crisps - yum yum !!

Do not usually give reviews, but in this case I made the exception so as to warn other customers not to buy this item as it is the biggest waste of kitchen space I have ever bought. It just does not slice very well - full stop. Keeps getting whatever vegetable you are trying to grate stuck between the blades. I detest cutting, etc. and was really hoping that this would be a god send. Sadly not. Do not waste your money.

This does not do the job it's intended for. The food comes out as mush and gets trapped between the housing and the grater/slicer stopping the grating/slicing. Better design required for this. Returned to Amazon for a refund.

I am always buying something. Something I MUST have, something I need. The 150 watt Tefal Fresh Express was one of those things. I knew that this would make my life that bit more bearable and solve a problem I never knew existed. I had a dream: this simple 150 watt Tefal Fresh Express fulfilled it.

High praise? Well, I can only assume your reading this since you are wondering if you really need this; will it just sit in the back of the cupboard with all the other junk: blenders, the toastie maker and the pineapple corer? Firstly, it's more beautiful than Nigella herself and...

yeah, it stays at the back of the cupboard. I wanted it, I got it, used it a couple of times. Realised it jams a lot with onions (anything with a skin) and you still have to have the chopping board and knife out to section things so they're small enough to fit in the machine anyway (so no avoiding onion eyes- they're actually worse because of the unit's fine cut!). It's usually easier and faster to just use a knife and chop stuff like a normal person. It shreds some things a bit too small for conventional chopping sizes eg. peppers turn to what feels like a wet pile of string and lose all crunch/texture. It's also pretty noisy so not good if you ever want to prepare food at less conventional times with other people in the house.

It's easy enough to use despite my complaints and good looking enough to leave out permanently (minus the attachments) but I like a clean looking kitchen and it's used so infrequently that it stays in the cupboard. It's also easily cleaned and great for cheese etc. Be realistic and ask yourself do you actually need it and is there something better you could buy? Are you just buying stuff because life is a little empty?!

So disappointed with this product. And it's such a lot of money for what it is. May aswell do it all by hand as it takes just as long andvis less messy. Do not bother you will be disappointed with this item. Worth spending a bit more or just do it all by hand.

Before you buy this product, read some of the 24 one star reviews that have been submitted against another listing of this product on Amazon. Here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tefal-MB750G36-Fresh-Express/dp/B006ZCU3T0/

This product makes chopping and slicing things more complicated. The old way of simple using a knife is faster, cleaner, cheaper and it results in much less washing up. This device is useless. The slicing tool slices things much too thin. Small carrots turn on their side in the loading hopper and end up being grated. Basically, everything ends up looking grated or it's turned into mush. The most annoying thing is that food jams in the outside of the cutting tool every single time, no matter what you cut. The motor then struggles to cope and you smell that electrical burning smell. I'll be returning mine back to Amazon straight away.
