First a confession. I cannot write a review of the 'Tefal FF105015 Accessimo Fryer'. Why? Because that is not the appliance which I received.
When I saw the image and read '...A stylish black and brushed stainless steel fryer... It features an easy-drain pouring spout, which makes handling hot oil safer and easier... The Accessimo is also a cleaner fryer, featuring a permanent metallic anti-odour filter...'
I leapt at the chance even though I have not fried anything for years, now I remember why.
Rather than the 'Tefal FF105015 Accessimo Fryer' I received in its stead the not so stylish 'Tefal Maxi Fry', a brooding great black plastic lump which sits (If you let it) atop the work top with all the aesthetic presence of a slag heap. I filled the admittedly capacious maw with the requisite amount of oil (I have driven ships which consumed less) allowed the device to reach its optimum temperature and inserted the basket containing two prime, juicy pieces of chicken for the recommended time, approximately twelve minutes, and voila! (Well it is a French company). Two nicely golden briquettes, suitable for anyone going abroad at night equipped for breaking and entering, but hardly edible, my cats turned furious gazes upon me when I attempted to share this glorious bounty with them and stalked off bristling.
The 'Maxi Fry' does not possess an easy-drain spout, 'Red Adair' would have balked at handling this thing full of hot oil, I fancy juggling braziers replete with glowing coals would be childs-play compared to emptying this bucket, I have encountered arc welding units with which it was easier to change the oil. Nor is this a cleaner fryer, featuring a permanent metallic anti-odour filter. The lid filter, if such it is, merely allows the escape of steam in such vast quantities that I was convinced that James Watt, or Richard Trevithick had installed some mighty beam engine within its bowels whilst my attention was otherwise engaged. As for anti-odour, my kitchen smelled not unlike a bad night's work at the Double-Luck, Happy Garden, Golden Dragon Chinese take-away the smell was so noxiously pungent.
Thus, my non-review of the 'Tefal FF105015 Accessimo Fryer draws to its inevitable close, the final curtain drawn in a sad case of mistaken identity, or should that be personation? The aforementioned Accessimo may indeed be all those things so loudly trumpeted in the blurb, I shall never know, one brush with death in his most ghastly garb is enough.
