As I do a lot of ironing I decided on the best and I chose this iron as it appeared to have everything, and it has.I have now had it for two weeks and I am delighted with its performance. It is easy to use and cuts ironing time dramatically.I know it was expensive but you get what you pay for.I would recommend this iron to anyone who does a lot of ironing-I previously used an ironing press, which is fine for smaller regular shaped items but is not good for large fitted sheets and shirts etc. this Iron goes through all these items with ease-making short work of the largest pile, and it has a large water tank, which is filled with tap water, that lasts a long time.it is easy to carry and all cables fit away inside the generater case. it also has a very efficient lock which stops the iron moving when being transported. I love it I have tried to think of anything I don't like but can't I just love it!!!

One can only yearn, wistfully and uselessly, for the days when a chap could rely on his better half to press his shirts for him as lovingly as she presses his cheek before waving him off to the office. Yet there is some hope that this wonderful gadget will entice women back to their time-honoured labour of yore, because it almost makes ironing fun and belts out steam like a small pet dragon. Sadly, despite the size of the delivery box your very own Stepford wife is not included.

For the base unit is large, too large for mortal ironing boards (although I can get it to fit, just), so mine goes on the floor and a minor miracle has occurred - as the clumsiest ironer ever I've never had a problem with the plentiful cable of this unit winding around my legs and arms and the iron itself glides along unimpeded - all the lighter for having the water in the base unit thingy.

So I took out my most stubborn shirt, the weave of which outwits my old ordinary iron even with lots of elbow grease, and the blighter quailed and capitulated and turned itself out fit for military inspection. It is not a suitable machine for Calvinists, it will feel unfair, mean and lazy. Don't doubt that your shirts will look crisper and with much less effort. That stack of sheets you were half-tempted to leave creased will be done in no time. It might even seduce you into ironing tea-towels.

Most importantly for me, as I scramble to grab a shirt out of the dryer, iron and rush off to work, there is an auto-off which will kick in if left alone for 8 minutes.

Still one drawback remains, as with every other lesser iron I've ever used big drops of H20 still land on cloth in non-steam form on two dot heat, taking some drying-out, and even some whole drops survive the heat on the attack dog 3 dot setting; a disappointment, one that can be allayed however by creating an impromtu Turkish bath, or a spot of wallpaper stripping.

This iron was bought as a replacement for a Stirela steam generator iron that was good at ironing but broke twice. No point discussing the merits of steam generator irons they have all been pointed out by the other, more positive reviews. My wife chose this iron on the basis of the other good reviews and the good balance of features like auto shut-off, large tank, lots of steam at a "relatively cheap" price.

Unfortunately the reality of the ironing experience was such that it had to be sent back after trying to use it twice. The problem is with the strain relief for the cord as it exits the iron. It sticks up almost vertically and, even though it hinges back a little from the sole plate, when the iron is held horizontal the cord completely gets in the way of your forearm. You have to keep articulating your wrist up and down as you turn the iron left and right - guaranteed RSI problem in the making.

I couldn't believe that no other reviews have mentioned this but then I noticed that the picture of the iron here, and on the box and in the instructions is different to the iron we were sent. The strain relief in the picture looks to be flexible all the way down to where it meets the iron. On our example it was rigid for half its length, causing an ergonomic nightmare. It looks like this part of the iron has gone through a design revision but with no thought to getting a user to actually test it.

The ability of the iron itself is better than the 2 stars I have given this review but I would strongly urge you to find an example of the latest version and try it yourself before committing to buy it.

In a house of 6 this thing is brilliant. It clearly cuts ironing time and heats up in just 2 minutes.
Its powerful too, one pass of a t-shirt and its all done -- no having to re-do the same spot 2-3 times.

I tested it on t-shirts and jackets which it just whizzed through, even on denim jeans and jackets
it had no trouble in ironing out every crease in sight. Such a step up from the last iron.

The several presets allow you to pick which type of garment your ironing.
The steam is powerful too, blasted out creases without even needing to touch the garment.

The combo of the iron and its base are quite heavy, but using the iron alone feels good.
Its very easy to use, and its neat too (the power lead recoils nicely into the base).

Then there is of course the price tag to consider, its a huge amount, but having used this
and seeing what i can do i really do think its a good investment if you consider how much
your clothes are worth, time spent ironing etc.

    5/5 and highly recommended.
