The 2020 watt Pro Express also boasts a 120g/min shot of steam to boost performance for extra-tough creases. A steam generator is the most powerful type of ironing solution available. The appliances work by generating steam in a separate boiler unit and pumping it through the iron's soleplate into the clothes. The extra pressurised steam, pumping continuously through fabric, means steam generators cut ironing time in half compared to conventional steam irons. The pressure is measured in bars, the higher the pressure, the deeper the steam penetrates into the fabric, leading to a better result. Safety
Safety is a key priority for Tefal, which is why the Pro Express has an auto-off function. This ensures the steam generator will be as safe as possible when not in use, by automatically shutting off when left unattended. It switches itself off after 30 seconds if left soleplate down, or eight minutes if left on its heel. The Pro Express has Tefal’s Ultracord system, which prevents the cord from rucking up and keeps it away from your hands and the clothes while ironing. A neighbour of mine has a steam generator iron and kept raving on about it. With a family of 5 my ironing is a weekly mountain. I decided to invest in the tefal iron, after doing some homework, they suggested the ceramic plate. This was a lot of money for an iron...........or so I thought! I wish now, I had bought one years ago, it glides through, cottons, linen trousers and T-shirts like glass. Superking quilt covers takes 5 minutes and I basically did what would be 5 hours ironing with a conventional iron in under 2! Truly fantastic!

This iron is brilliant! It's easy to use and it gives such a professional finish to everything with hardly any effort. It really DOES cut ironing time in half.
However, as with all these steam generator irons, you must have the special ironing board to channel the excess water from the steam away.
As far as I know the only ironing board of this type is the one made by Brabantia. It is very good (although expensive) but has a drawback with this Tefal iron. The Brabantia board has a special holder for the steam generators but it isn't quite big enough for the Tefal one. This iron will JUST go in - but only at a rather awkward angle. Brabantia need to make their holder a fraction bigger or Tefal need to make their generator base a tad smaller.
However I'm certain this iron is the best of the best. I'm delighted with it.

Having taking a long time over buying this product because of the price, I can now say it was well worth the money, it makes ironing a pleasure. The ironing is so easy with this iron it really is great, its all good nothing bad about it so go on spoil yourself and make doing the ironing a pleasure instead of a chore. I would never go back to a normal iron now.
