Product Description

Product Description

Fast boiling and a powerful performance combine with Tefal's concealed Diamond element technology to give Express Diamond kettle unbeatable resistance to limescale - and a cup of tea in no time at all! From its rapid boil functionality and sleek design to its great value for money, the Express Diamond has the style and performance to suit every kitchen.

Diamond technology: the best solution to fight against lime scale When it comes to making a cup of tea, Diamonds really are a girl's best friend. Tefal has upgraded its stainless steel Express kettle with a special polished stainless steel base that reduces build-up of lime scale making your kettle last longer and your tea taste better. This is great news for tea drinkers living in hard water areas. In these areas, lime scale is a kettle's number one enemy; not only does it look nasty and cloud up the water, but it also corrodes the heating element, slowing it down and stopping it from boiling quickly and efficiently.

Research shows that if you don't de-scale your kettle every month with either white vinegar or citric acid, this can dramatically reduce the life-span of your kettle. With the new Tefal Express Diamond kettle, lime scale is four times less likely to build up on the special concealed element compared to on a standard kettle. This means less cleaning, longer life and no more wasted time de-scaling.

Tefal, ideas you can't live without. Tefal's product design communicates the brand's identity: They are ingenious and guarantee success. They are useable by everybody in the family. They are pleasant to use. They find their place in various styles of living environments.

Tefal

Tefal owes its origins to a Frenchman, Marc Grégoire, and his wife, Colette. M. Grégoire, a keen fisherman, wanted to make his rod reel in more smoothly and, in the 1950's, experimented to see if a non stick coating might provide the answer. It did! But it was his wife who made the real breakthrough by gently suggesting that coating the cooking pans would have a more worthwhile application by making them easier to cook with and simpler to clean. Now, Tefal is the number one name in non-stick products and small appliances, operating in over 120 countries. Tefal remains committed to making household tasks easier and cooking results better, through a constant flow of new ideas and technology.

Before I bought this, I was a bit surprised that very few kettles on Amazon get good reviews. And it seems that the more expensive they are, the more disappointing they are. You'd think a kettle would be pretty easy to get right by now.
This Tefal gets mostly positive reviews though, so I bought it, even though it's not the most obviously stylish kettle on the market.
I can't yet vouch for its long-term reliability, but so far, so good.
It's pretty standard fare for a kettle:1.7 litre capacity, quick boil etc.
Like most kettles, it's a bit noisy, but it'll boil a litre of very cold water in two minutes, so you're not deafened for long.
Good points are that it has two windows for the water level - great if you have both left and right handed people using it. The water level window does get steamed up though so it's not that good.
The thing I like most is the neat combined on/off/open button that falls right under your thumb. You'll need to fill this narrow-spouted kettle through the lid, so it's good to have a simple button to open the lid - it springs open when you press it, with a nicely damped action.
It's surpising how many (especially plastic) kettles I've tried spill water when you pour them. This Tefal is perfect in this respect, and the kettle is nicely balanced for pouring.
It's also particularly easy to put onto its base without having to fumble for the right position.
So, as long as it continues to work, it easily deserves four stars.

I bought this kettle about three months ago and am now looking to return it. It is a nice looking kettle, but is very noisy. The showstopper for me, however, is that it intermittently fails to turn itself off. I put it on, went upstairs and came down to find it continuously boiling and my kitchen walls dripping with steam. I thought that it must have been a one-off and that perhaps I'd overfilled it, but the same thing has now happened several times and I've had enough. I've gone out and bought a Breville to replace it, which seems fine and is much quieter. I won't buy another Tefal kettle again.

    Simply a Great Kettle 27 April 2008
    By M. Hook
It does as the description says.

Simple design. Well balanced when pouring and there's no steam from the lid to burn your hand like some kettles.

    Quiet.

Easy fill through lid or spout.

Clever operation, in that the on switch is combined with the lid opener.
    Easy to see water level.

Allows you to boil only what you need, so if it's just one cup of water you need then there's no problem and it's ready in less than 20 seconds.

Poor insulation being stainless steel but when you can boil only what you need this isn't a problem.

    Great Kettle.
