Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Tefal's Avanti 6532817P is a thoroughly modern toaster large enough and nimble enough to serve the whole family. Extra-wide self-adjusting slots firmly grip a variety of bread thicknesses and are also perfect for bagels, muffins, waffles or pastries. The four slots are divided into two independently operated sets that have their own six-stop browning control for precise toasting and a stop/eject button. Additionally, the left set has buttons to defrost frozen bread and other items and to reheat previously toasted items that have gone cold. Each set also has a "high-lift" lever to facilitate safe removal of small items and its own removable crumb tray. The sizable toaster is lightweight and easily carried by its inset handle in the back. The handsome exterior is also easy to wipe clean. --Fred Brack, Amazon.com

While this toaster is an attractive addition to your kitchen gadgets, be aware that the novel sloping design is not compensated for in extra toasting depth. The toasting slots are also pretty short. This means that you may have to cut crusts off, to fit bread into your beautiful toaster, and forget about toasting anything that you have baked in your breadmaker!
This toaster is relatively inexpensive, it looks funky and it does the job, just consider the kind of bread you like to toast and whether you can be bothered trimming it...

Like everybody else we though this toaster was very funky when we bought it. It looked really nice and different from the other toasters. Although I agree with the cheap looking handles idea, in general it is a good looking little toaster. However, to me, unless something does its job properly there is no point in having it, and this goes for this toaster too. Unless we buy smaller bread loafs the slices are never evenly done and for this reason decided to give it an early retirement :)

Weelll.....8 years have passed since we bought this item and it is still alive and being used on a daily basis. Apart from the slice size problem it has proved to be a great buy for its quality. If I had to replace this one I would definitely get a Tefal toaster again but not a slanted one like this if there is any product like that. Still Tefal quality shines through.

Chose this toaster above others as it looked good, and had separate controls for each side. Unfortunately the levers for the, 'extra lift', in getting smaller, (i.e., crumpets), out, are very cheaply made and one of them broke within a few months of use. The toaster itself is very inconsistent with its results.. sometimes burning, but now requiring two, or occasionally three 'toasts' on full heat before getting results. Overall a bad choice!

Call me shallow, but one of the main reasons I chose this particular toaster was because it looked great in the photo. I had just had a new kitchen and I wanted a toaster that would look modern and stylish sitting on the worktop. I have to say that I found it slightly disappointing in the flesh. In particular the browning control knobs and the levers are actually quite cheap looking, which let the toaster down, I think.
Looks aside, this is a great idea ~ a 4-slice toaster which is really two 2-slice toasters joined together, working independently of each other. The wide slots are great for crumpets, bagels etc. and there are two very handy levers (albeit cheap looking!) for raising the contents for ease of retrieval.
I do have another BIG criticism though. It doesn't toast as evenly as I would have hoped and more often than not the middle of the toast is burnt while the edges and crusts are still raw. I have my browning controls set to no.2, as anything above that turns the bread to charcoal in seconds, setting off every smoke alarm for miles around!
Overall, this toaster does have some great features and for the most part it does look good, but it's the little things that let it down.

Oh dear - bought for looks but like many things in life an overly pretty exterior doesn't guarentee anything. In fact you could say it's a fairly good indicator they are trying to make up for something lacking inside...
This "toaster" (it calls itself that, although I have my doubts) made the most uneven toast you could ever imagine - black center with white (i.e. bread) edges.
The "lift" functionality is also a little lame - I expected more than 1cm of extra "lift" - no good for getting crumpets out!
P.S. My first ever review after many years of use, it really is that bad!!!

Not the best buy ever, but kind of does the trick after bashing it about a bit. It gets stuck a lot and is a bit tinny. If you're not expecting much from a toaster, then this will do the trick.

Every time i use this abysmal device i tell myself that i really must post a review and warn everyone about what is the worst electronic device i have ever came across. It may look nice, but this toaster singularly fails in achieving its main function, namely toasting. Exactly how it manages to cremate some bits of the bread and leave other parts thorougly un-cooked remains a mystery to me. I have also yet to find the bread that actually fits in it without requiring prior mutilation. If they have toasters in hell, this model will be in every kitchen.

i agree with the other reviewers, it is a nice looking toaster but unfortuantely is uneven in the toasting process. every thing else seems fine tho so overall, i like it and it does the job. never leave a toaster unattended tho as this is dangerous and envariably burns anyhow as it seems to know if you have left the room! whereas, if you stand there and wait, you have to put it down again as it is not done enough! i think a lot of it is also personal taste on how you like your toast also.
