    Product Features

    Donnie's Tech Lab

Once you have built the sewer lair Donnie's lab opens up where he has his big screen computer and other gadget items. As Donatello is extremely intelligent and technical, always working on a strategy, whether it's building machines and gadgets or battling villains; the lab is the place for him to work on all of his creations.

    Turtle Fly Line

Attached the fly line clamp to a safe location out side of the Sewer Lair playset, then all figures can grab onto the fly line and zip through the air onto the Sewer Lair playset.

    Rockin the Swing

Turtles can fly through the air on the tyre swinging from one area of the Sewer Lair to the other. They can fly through the air taking out Shredder and the Kraang in the battle to keep the city safe.

    Real Working Elevator

Watch out for the villains as they may fly up the working elevator from one floor to another or use this as a secret elevator for the turtles to sneak up on the villains. Simply place you figure on the elevator platform and using the tab underneath move the elevator up and down over two of the floors.

    Shred Head Practice Dummy

Each Turtle can use their signature weapons and practise their ninjutsu moves on the shred head dummy. The dummy can move around the playset and can be placed on the different levels.

    Hidden Spring-Loaded Power Line Launcher

At the top of the sewer lair which is the place designed to be the look out and guard, is the spring-loaded power line launcher. Load the launcher and then aim and fire, to take out any villains, but make sure the Turtles get there first otherwise the weapon maybe used against them.

    Fake out trap door

The sewer lair has lots of secret weapons to use again the evil villains, but one of its best is the secret trap door. Villains are unware as they stand on the wooden floor. As the floor falls away from under there feet and they fall into the sewer lair even further, where the turtles can be waiting for them.

    Hidden Wall

Behind the secret hidden wall is a work station where Turtles can quickly get to work. They can quickly hide the work station by spinning the wall, no villain will ever know its there as it just looks like a complete brick wall.

    Secret Dumpster Periscope

In the secret dumpster hideout, the Turtles can not only get ready to jump out on the unexpected villains, but it also contains the top section of the periscope that can be used from the bottom part of the secret sewer lair. Turtles can look through the periscope and look out for any villains that maybe making there way down from the streets and into the sewer.

Just when playsets seemed to have become a thing of the past, trust the Turtles to bring it back with a vengeance!

This is the perfect platform for the stellar new line of Turtles figures. The first thing to note is just how big this is, standing at nearly 4 foot tall when built. On top of this it's packed with really fun features, some brand new (the zipline being a particular highlight) and some nice little nods to the Turtle lair Playmates produced in the late 80s (like the hidden periscope and secret elevator entrance to the lower levels) which take me back to my own childhood. The quality of this line as a whole has been consistently high and the Sewer is no exception. Everything is solid and the features work really well once all put together.

Some minor quibbles though: This takes some serious building. I must have spent about three hours in total putting it all together, not helped by the fact that there is no guide for where all the stickers are supposed to go. Granted there is a certain amount of common sense involved and others you can work out from the pictures on the box but an actual guide would have trimmed some time from the construction process.

Also when it's done it's not easy to take apart again and frankly you won't relish the idea of having to put the whole thing together multiple times anyway so once it's built it's pretty much staying that way, so make sure you have a place for it.

All that said however, when you see the whole thing up and working all quibbles are quickly forgotten and seeing the amount of fun your little Turtle fans get out of it will make it all worth the effort.

    Addendum:
I've just found a brilliant instructional video for construction of the lair on the Playmates website (playmatestoys.com - please don't make the mistake of going to playmates.com first...) which will cut your building time down considerably and solve the sticker problem too.

This is a playset and a half would have loved something like this as a child. Lots of features and my son plays with it and his characters for ages. The only downsides to it-
-it is a bit flimsy i had to end up gluing some of the bits together as it kept coming apart, no chance of that now.
-the price, luckily i got it in a sale that was 50% off, but even then i would say it is alot of money for the quality of it. Let alone the usual price of about 80 pound. If you are thinking of paying that much keep an eye out for sales and get it then.

But that aside my son loves it and thats the most important thing.

If you have a son into turtles like my 5 year old, this logically is a no brainer. However, I've lost count of how many times its fallen apart and I've had to re assemble it! So much so my son lost interest playing with it fairly promptly! If it were RRP £40 I'd say it's definately worth it even if it does fall apart quite easily.. But at £80-£90 Id say make a lair out of a card board box and some green paint with your child, they'll love you for it, have fun making it and you won't be pulling your hair out if it collapses!!

My 10 year old son loved it. Its much bigger than we were expecting but well worth the money. Plenty of places for the turtles to hide. Took around 90 mins to put it altogether.

Bought this my boys age 6&3 for Christmas. It's really not worth £90 I pad for it. Its really boring, my children. Haven't really looked at it as the box is way more intriguing. It's really flimsy considering rough and tumble boys may be using it. I have even resulted in super gluing it now so it holds together. Wouldn't recommend this product at all.
