Product Description
After being murdered by her teacher and three brothers, a pretty high school student moonlighting as a prostitute is brought back from the dead thanks to the miracle of technology. Now an unstoppable killing machine, she's driven by horrific memories of her ordeal and decides to avenge herself on those responsible for her death. A savage and witty look at hypocrisy, deception and the violent authority of an older generation supposedly leading the young. SPECIAL FEATURES: 'KANGCHUL' - A 30-MINUTE FEATURETTE BY DIRECTOR NAM KI-WOONG

2.0 out of 5 stars Machine Killing A Became Hooker Teenage, 4 Jan 2008
By Wrench (England) - See all my reviews
A very bizarre Korean revenge movie with elements of "Nikita" and "Robocop" thrown in. But this is in no a way your typical mainstream movie. It's a very cheaply made independant film shot on a shakey DV camera and only lasts for a mere 60 minutes - 7 of which are wasted on a painfully slow moving opening credits sequence in which every citizen of Korea must've got a mention! And that's really the flaw of the movie - too many unneccessarily long scenes which drag on and bore. Welcomed moments of gore do eventually occur in the latter half of the duration, but the revenge theme comes in to play very late on and is all too brief. It's a cool plot idea having a female cyborg exacting revenge on her brutal, sadistic dismemberers, but it deserves a better treatment than this amateurish, artsy effort.

1.0 out of 5 stars TRASH, 2 Jan 2008
I am a fan of Eastern and alternative cinema and thought this might be something like Shinya Tsukamoto's films Tetsuo and A Snake of June. I couldn't have been more wrong. After the longest title sequence in history I sat and watched in amazement at how truly terrible this film is. It is badly written and acted, the lighting is terrible, the pacing painful and the violence unbelievable. It has no artistic qualities, original ideas or redeeming features. There is even a whole scene ripped off of the French film La Femme Nikita. Is that allowed? The film runs 60mins but feels like it goes on forever. It has obviously been released because of the fact that Eastern cinema is popular, the title and the exploitation elements but please, dont waste your time on this. I recently made my own short film which is much better than this. Bet i cant get it released on DVD though. Trash.

1.0 out of 5 stars What a great title for a movie!, 18 Oct 2008

... but that's about it. The great premise is squandered. The story, what there is of it, is nonsensical, goes nowhere and is, to put it simply, dull. It looks awful too - it looks like it was shot on video and is too murky and dark. This seems like an intentional style on the part of the director but simply doesn't work.
The extra, a thirty minute student film, has an equally interesting premise, but again fails to hold your attention.
Disappointing in al respects.
