From Amazon.co.uk

Michael J Fox’s other iconic role of the 1980s saw him step into the shoes of an otherwise unspectacular high school student, who realises that he’s slowly transforming into a werewolf. We’re talking Teen Wolf, a richly cherished cult film of the decade. It’s also one that overcame originally middling box office to earn its cult film stripes, leading to a sequel, and a surprisingly good TV series.

But it’s the original that’s still where the main fun is, and it’s been spruced up nicely for its Blu-ray upgrade. It’s hard to think that Teen Wolf has ever looked quite as sharp, courtesy of the good 1080p spring clean it’s been given. It still shows the film’s age off, and you’d never mistake it for something recent, yet that’s now become part of Teen Wolf’s charm. In fact, you could rightly argue that the Blu-ray showcases just what made so many warm to the film in the first place.

And if it’s whetted your appetite for more, then the disc also features a look at the more recent Teen Wolf television series. It’s a different beast, albeit sharing Teen Wolf DNA. Still, it’s the original that’s the undoubted star of the show here, with the emphasis on practical effects, and a hard to capture sense of fun, that demands repeated viewings. It was never designed to win awards, perhaps. But Teen Wolf was certainly made to be watched, time and time again. This Blu-ray? It’s the best way to do it. --Jon Foster

Product Description

What’s a high school kid got to do to be popular? Just let down his hair and howl! Starring Michael J. Fox (Back to the Future), Teen Wolf is an outrageous comedy about a shy teenager with more than a changing voice to contend with... he’s a budding young werewolf. And when his newfound powers help him score at basketball--and with the popular girls--he has some pretty hairy decisions to make.

Special Features:
  • Sneak Peek: Teen Wolf--The TV series
  • Theatrical trailer

4.0 out of 5 stars Great 80's Film..Not-So-Great Blu-ray 4 Sep 2012

I love this film. Or at least I thought I did. I watched it when it was released in 1985 purely because it had the brilliant Michael J. Fox in it and I thought it was great fun. Unfortunately, it hasn't aged particularly well. The story feels a little trite and the entire film feels like a lost opportunity to examine how a teenager would cope with discovering he's a natural born werewolf. But, then again, the modern TV show by the same title is doing a pretty good job of examining those themes already. This film rest solely on the charming, pitch-perfect performance of Fox and rewatching this today, it is still his performance that raises the film above it's script.
How Marty...oops....I meant Scott comes to term with his wolfiness and learns to be a team player at basketball is the stuff of countless teen movies and TV shows and is full of predictable situations and solutions. Probably the biggest surprise is how easily everyone accepts Scott's transformation into his alter-ego without so much as a pitchfork or torch on display. This is all the more surprising given that the 80's weren't particularly known for being accepting of minorities or people who were different.
Anyway, if you loved the film in the 80's you'll probably still really enjoy it now.
As for the blu-ray: it's a minor step up from the DVD version. There is still a lot of grain/dirt/blemishes to be seen on the picture and the DTS Mono soundtrack leaves a lot to be desired. But, there is a definite improvement over the DVD so it's worth the upgrade if you can get it cheap. Shame about the extras: a trailer for the film and a 'promo' for the TV show. I can't see this film ever getting a Special Edition treatment and a complete digital makeover, so this is probably the best we're gonna get.

I like 80s movies, I dont like it when people review a movie, I like to know if its a good transfere.
I am not into extras or BD live. I just want a good clean/sound movie to enjoy...

5.0 out of 5 stars Teen warmer 30 April 2003
By A Customer
Format:VHS Tape
Whilst recently wathcing teen wolf again on television i realised what a great piece of film history it actuall was. A pre-Back to the Future, MIchael J. Fox is perfectly cast as a young student who is trying to score with the prettiest girl at his school, however due to him being slightly plain she does not give him the time of day instead opting for the school jock. Although the film is a bit slushy the morale is thought provoking as it shows youngster that they do not need to be perfect to find love.It teaches them to be themselves and i believe in age where youngsters are expected to be perfect in everyway that this film shows a different approach. An excellent feel good movie that is worth watching what ever your age.........
