This is the second season of the popular TV show "Teen Titans". The team consists of Robin (the obsessive leader), Raven (the mystical Goth), Starfire (the beautiful alien), Cyborg (the robotic athletic) and Beast Boy (the shape-changing clown).

The season picks up were Season 1 ended, Robin is back with the Titans and it seems that things are doing back to normal. We meet some new villains and also a new Titan: Terra (the insecure enigma).

This box-set contains all thirteen episodes in season two in the order they were aired: How Long is Forever? (Starfire is sent to the future and meets Nightwing!), Every Dog Has His Day (An green dog causes havoc!), Terra (Does she have what it takes to be a Titan?), Only Human (explores the half human and half robotic Titan), Fear Itself (Is Control Freak behind the monsters or is it someone else?), Date With Destiny (Robin takes Kitten to the prom), Transformation (explores Starfire), Titans Rising (Terra's back, but is she ready?), Winner Take All (Robin always needs to win, but is winning really that important?), Betrayal (the Titans learn Terra's secret), Fractured (Robin's broken his arm, can Larry help?), and the grand two-part finale Aftershock (Slade and his apprentice have taken control of Jump City, can the Titans prevail against the odds to claim it back?)

Considering that there were so many extras with Season 1 it is a little surprising that there are only two extras with season 2. The first one "Catching Up With Teen Titans: Inside Season 2" is basically a collage of clips from the first two seasons. Very disappointing as I thought it was a chat with the actors. The second "extra" is a collection of trailers adverting new shows on DVD like Teen Titans Trouble in Tokyo, Superman etc.

This box-set was a great addition to my collection. The quality of the episodes is fantastic, with no logos in corners. It's got all the aspects we've come to love about the Teen Titans, the friendship, trust, betrayal, encouragement, battles and development of all the main characters.

I wrote to Warner Brothers (WB) to ask the when they plan to release it in Region 2 (in Europe's PALS format). I'm sorry to say they are not planning on releasing it in the UK at all. If you want WB to release the Teen Titans DVD in the UK, please write to them at Warner Home Video, Warner House, 98 Theobald's Road, London, WC1X 8WB or email them at ukcustomer.enquiries@warnerbros.com.

This second season of the great Teen Titans animated series contains all thirteen episodes of the season and the show continues to improve throughout. While still sticking mostly to the villain-of-the-week formula of the previous season, there is also an attempt to introduce more of a story for the season as a whole with the geokinetic hero Terra joining the team.

There are many good episodes in this second season with highlights being `How Long is Forever?' where Starfire travels to the future, `Winner Take All' that includes a number of other teen heroes such as Aqualad and Green Arrows' sidekick Speedy, and `Fractured' that sees the arrival of an imp from another dimension (*cough*Bat-mite*cough*) and has a number of cleaver references to the comics. My favourite episode of the season though has to be the excellent two-part season finale `Aftershock' that has some great action and is surprisingly mature for the supposed target audience of the show.

The animation and voice acting is the same as in the first season but the writing does seem to be getting slightly better, succeeding in being funny and exciting while still having some emotion in certain scenes. The lack of special features on this DVD is slightly disappointing but the show itself is good enough to make up for this.

The Titans continue to rock 27 Jun 2006

This is season 2 of the Teen Titans series, and is notable for adapting the "Judas Contract" story arc from the comics. Terra is introduced, and Beast Boy is given something else to do other than play the comic relief. In other episodes Starfire is blasted to the future and meets Nightwing(!), Robin takes Killer Moth's daughter to the prom, and the Titans compete in a tournament of heroes and gain new allies. The obligatory "fractured" episode of the season is just that, with an imp named Larry breaking reality and causing chaos for everyone. The only blemish is the tail end of the season finale, which seems to take the easy way out after all the built-up character drama.

So we get another nice, compact, affordable collection of episodes. Half of this season was already released under the subtitle "Fear Itself," but this is the only place to pick up the remaining 7 episodes. Since Warner Bros. doesn't seem to be releasing another single disc for those who bought the first one, the smart (only) bet would be for fans to grab this set and sell the single disc. The prices are comparable, either way.

Teen Titans Second Season is Awesome! 11 Jan 2007

I think that Warner finally figured out that people don't want to purchase disc after disc of just a few episodes in order to enjoy their favorite programs. This second season of Teen Titans is a must have if you are a fan of the show at all. Don't be fooled into purchasing "Fear Itself" (Season 2, Volume 1), as then the only way for you to purchase the second half of the season is to purchase the ENTIRE season which is included in this offering (there is no Season 2, Volume 2 offered). Our family loves Teen Titans, and we have children aged 4-24!! When our four year old son went to stay with his older married sister, his 27 year old brother-in-law begged him to bring Teen Titans along!

Peculiar.... 14 Sep 2006

I thought they would make a separate DVD with the rest of the second season on there (to follow up "Volume 1: Fear Itself"), but it seems they finally came to their senses and did the whole second season on a 2-disc box set.

However, if they DID make a Season 2, Volume 2, I would put down the following:

"The next seven episodes feature the return ('Titan Rising'), the betrayal ('Betrayal'), and the wrath ('Aftershock', both parts) of the earth-moving Titan named Terra. She was a good girl, though.

Also, the second half of the second season has two of the LOONIEST episodes you've ever laid eyes on ! One is called 'Transformation' where Starfire turns into a hideous, yet hilarious creature. The other, 'Fractured', is a really zany romp starring an interdimensional weirdo named Larry (aka Nosyarg Kcid). Thanks to Larry and his reality-altering powers, he's turned the Titans' world upside-down, inside-out, and even backwards !"

If you want a run-down of the first six episodes, check out my review of the "Fear Itself" DVD.

Back to the two-disc, it has all thirteen episodes of the second season in its entirety plus the featurette "Catching Up with... Teen Titans". This feature is a reflective look of season two in the Titans' perspective.

I wonder when the third season of "Titans" is coming out ?
