This fourth season of the great Teen Titans animated series is by far the best so far with quality episodes throughout and even the bad episodes of the season are still entertaining. The arc for this season revolves around Raven and the secrets that she keeps that will cause trouble not just for her and her friends but will mean the destruction of the entire world.
Raven is my favourite character for the series and as such I did greatly enjoy this season with its focus on her and her destiny. This season does have some of the darkest episodes from the entire show with `Birthmark', `The Prophecy' and the three part `The End' going farther than many other children's shows would with the subject. This is countered somewhat in that it also includes some of the funniest episodes of the show with `257-494 AKA Don't Touch That Dial' being especially good with tons of sci-fi references.
The writing in this season is very good, easily outdoing the previous three series with its humour emotion and excitement. The one exception to this is the less than great episode `Troq' a story about alien racism. This is a common storyline in many sci-fi shows and but this episode goes about it in a rather heavy handed manner and is about as subtle as a sledgehammer. Other than this minor issue, the season is excellent with great vocal talent and some surprisingly good animation in places. This is definitely the best season of the show yet and season five has a lot to live up too.
