Product Description

Nippon Ichi Software, Gust, and Idea Factory have joined forces to bring an all-new hardcore RPG. Trinity Universe combines the characters of the Disgaea and Atelier series together in an original world setting. Players will take on the role of either a male main character or a female main character. Both of these characters have their own original story with many guest appearances. The game will be in full 3D with beautiful anime style artwork.

Trinity Universe Story (Kanata)
For generations, Kanata’s ancestors have protected the Netheruniverse by transmogrifying into a Demon God Gem. However, Demon God King Kanata refused to become the gem and instead became a Demon Dog King. Since then, he has enjoyed a carefree life in hiding, but he eventually began thinking about the toll of his decision. Accepting the title of Demon God King and becoming the gemstone will stop space debris from crashing into his world. If he could get to the source of the space debris and solve the problem, everybody will be happy. Determined, Kanata goes on a journey to save his world.

Trinity Universe Story (Rizelea)
Rizelea is a Valkyrie who keeps the galaxy’s peace and harmony. She has been keeping the peace for hundreds of years, but one day she decides to go to the run-down sections of the Netheruniverse to restore the peace there. When she arrives, she learns that the Netheruniverse is constantly in danger from space debris and decides to investigate this matter.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good game but it could have been better. 5 July 2010

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
There havent been any good entries in the jrpgs by NIS and GUST recently so I was looking forward to see what kind of game this one is.

The story is funny and happy go lucky like most NIS and GUST games so you can have a good laugh out of this game, all the characters in it add to this.

The gameplay is mainly dungeon crawling , you explore the stuff drifting around the netheruniverse , there is also the synthesis system from Atelier Iris and Mana Khemia and other Gust games which allows you to make weapons , armor and other items by aquiring materials from battles or from bags laying around in the dungeons.
Battles are turn based , each character has a number of AP which he/she uses to perform 3 different kinds of attacks special abilities or combinations of them. Each character has special moves too which result from a combination of the attacks I mentioned.

The graphics are mediocre from what you would expect from a ps3 game and they could be better but for me the graphics are never a letdown if the gameplay is good. The Characters are anime like. The towns are shown as paintings so are the shops and the events , they could make them 3D for a change but they wanted it manga styled. Dungeons are full 3D so are the battles.

The sound is good , as you would expect from a jrpg , it is the same style as most of the NIS GUST games.

You can have fun with this one , I just wished they had just a bit more characters from the other NIS and GUST games but not that many(like Cross Edge). Also they should go ahead and be more creative with their games from now on , with that said I would like to see Ar tonelico 3 and Atelier Rorona sometime soon on EU too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Trinity Universe, a gently rpg 12 Dec 2010
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Simply put fans of NIS won't be dissapointed, anyone new to the franchise be warned there s a strongly childlike appeal to this franchise that suits primarily within the younger viewers interests. However rpg enthusiasts will feel right at how with a dynamic battle system and easy to grasp controls, into a fluid an rich world with vibrant characters plenty of depth and imagination as with any nis game.

would gladly recommend for rpg fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent trad jrpg for the fans 2 July 2010

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Just to get one thing straight from the off - I am a jrpg fanboy and my score probably reflects this! Trinity Universe is a turn-based traditional style Japanese role playing game. This means that the cut scenes will be basically static portraits of characters exchanging a lot of dialogue - most of it pretty whimsical. The story will be silly and there will be an expectation to level-up all your characters a lot and collect a lot of loot.

If this is not your type of game then you are probably not going to like Trinity Universe. The game has some small changes to the traditional style - the static portraits include a bit of animation to make them look like they are breathing etc, but it isn't fmv in any shape or form. The sprite graphics of previous games have been replaced by 3D cel-shading, but are still a long way from glorious hd graphics of games such as FFXIII. However, this still gives the game a unique charm (if you like that kind of thing) and the gameplay is still pretty deep.

The gameplay is basically split into 3 areas - events, exploration and battles. Events basically play through the various dialogue for the story - they do tend to go on a bit and there are a lot of references to previous games in the genre. Exploration means accessing the dungeons on accessible orbiting objects and involves a 3D 3rd person exploration. You can use a search function to highlight hidden objects and you have random battles to face - these can be halted for a while by completing the hunter challenge. There are bosses to fight and Lurkers, who are mega tough enemies that can hunt you down. Also there is loot to collect and you can get rare loot by destroying the gravity core and picking stuff up before the time runs out.

This is one vital element to exploration.
