This is a great system for the price and brilliantly portable. My daughter slipped it into her suitcase for her holiday and it was loud enough for a small birthday party. Obviously expensive speakers give better sound quality, but this is perfectly adequate for a small room and better than we expected for the price. My daughter loves the girly colour, too.

After reading the reviews buy Cupcake and Jeff B, I purchased a 9V power adapter to go with this item. PLEASE DO NOT REPEAT THIS MISTAKE!! After being plugged in for only a matter of seconds to a 9V supply, the battery in my iPod has been damaged and can no longer retain any charge. I concede that this is largely my own fault, as the speaker unit itself does indicate that it is in fact a 5V supply which is required. It appears that the speaker unit itself has not been damaged by the over voltage incident, but given the relative costs, I'd have much preferred to have a healthy iPod and a fried speaker.

Once again - PLEASE IGNORE THE REVIEWS BY CUPCAKE AND JEFF B - a 9V supply will kill your iPod!

This is fine for a kids bedroom, lacks a bit of bass like would expect on something for this money, but some words of advice. This Ipod dock does not come with an adapter, so you will need to purchase one. It needs a 5 Volt adapter, or 4.5/5.5 (you can normally allow 10%) if you use like I did a 3.7V adapter it won't damage the Ipod but it isn't sufficient enough to power the Ipod dock, when I did this it worked but there was random punching distortion. I bought a 5 volt adapter and now the random distortion is gone and the dock works great! If you were to use anything larger than a 5.5 volt you will burn out the Ipod. Hope this helps.

The sound off this unit is really good, the manual is less so... Actually, it is not really in need of the manual as ignoring the supplied headphone to unit lead is all you need to do. Your iPod docks in the unit to charge whilst you are playing it, so why would you use the lead? This doesn't work with my iPhone 3GS (but it didn't claim to) and the power connection was dodgy on my model so I now run it on batteries. (I thought it too much hassle to post back considering the price.) Using batteries makes it portable so I'm not too concerned. Overall, I'm really impressed with this and think it's excellent value for money.

I bought these for my grand-daughters birthday and for the price I wasn't expecting much in the way of sound quality, but these were surprisingly good! Not hi-fi but entirely adequate for a less discerning ear and extremely portable.

I bought these speakers to go on holiday & they are fab! Very neat & tidy, fitted in the suitcase without taking up valuable clothes space & gave great performance when we were away! Love them, great product for the price. Well recommended.

I bought these to go with a sandisk sansa clip so I could listen to audio books in bed both at home and on trips away.

Upside - It's a good size, packs well and I love the colour. Nice looking design. The quality of the sound itself is OK for me but I am not over fussy. It works!

Downsides - The volume doesn't go up that high and you get a buzz at a certain level. I realise that this is in part due to the quality of the original audio file but even so... When I connect my mp3 player to a regular speaker with subwoofer (which cost only slightly more than this) the sound is WAY better and no buzz. Also I bought a dual USB power adapter so I could plug in these speakers and recharge the mp3 player at the same time (while playing) but it doesn't work. There's just a buzz. Maybe something to do with a 3-way connection. I don't know. I am not a good techie. Just thought this might be useful for other technologically-challenged customers to know

Overall I am not sorry I bought it. It's cute, it's travel friendly and it works ok. But i can't give it more than 3 stars because its basic function is to be a speaker and the volume levels are only average.
