I've been looking for something like this for quite a while now, to get some use out of an old 19" LCD monitor. I ordered it yesterday, and it was here by lunchtime!On opening the box, I was a little bit dissappointed to find that, at least with mine, it was packaged for the French market - the only instruction sheet was entirely in French, and it had a continental plug on the transformer. A UK adaptor was supplied with it, but it's very ugly-looking and flimsy with the transformer plugged into it. If it's going to be anywhere where it could get knocked, even slightly, it IS going to break... Since there weren't any instructions (that I could read!) I had to just find my own way through the menu - it wasn't too complicated, but at one stage I changed the output type from NTSC to PAL (since in the UK we use PAL), and then got a message on the monitor "input not supported". Of course all I needed to do was change it back, but without being able to see anything that was VERY difficult. After much swearing & random pushing of buttons, I decided the only way to sort it was to dismantle everything I had just set up, drag the box, monitor, leads etc to the living room to connect up a newer LCD TV with an s-vid cable, so that I could actually see the menu screen!!! Once that was sorted, it was quite easy to set up the channels, set preferences etc., and the picture is really good! One point though - my monitor doesn't have speakers built in, so I connected some walkman-type speakers. The volume was so low it was virtually undetectable. I changed them to powered speakers, and it's now fine. The box obviously doesn't have the power to drive unpowered speakers. Pros: box is smaller than I imagined, takes up very little space; Meun is self-explanatory & easy to use; Good picture. Cons: Instructions in French; Continental power adaptor; Can't drive unpowered speakers. I'd definitely recommend this for someone wanting to watch TV on a computer monitor without having to have a computer!
