Book Description

Never before have the events of the Second World War been captured so vividly. Paul Henke transports his readers straight to this turbulent period of history. From Dunkirk and the Battle of Britain, through to the final invasion, you feel you are actually there, breathing alongside his remarkable characters. This is a tale of betrayal; betrayal of Prisoners of War as they struggle to survive - and betrayal of a nation by its King.

This compelling story of a family at war is told through the eyes of Sir David Griffiths. At the height of his political power he will do whatever it takes to protect those he loves. But will it be enough?

His daughter Susan, the beautiful and tempestuous pilot, is tested to the limits of her endurance. Cousin Alex’s skill in the air is legend – but can he conquer his demons on the ground? And young Richard, defying his family yet desperately needing their help if he is to survive the horrors that await him.

Tears Until Dawn, the 4th book in the Tears Series, is a rare blend of truth and fiction - a story you will not want to end. Henke dazzles the reader with passion and adventure in this novel of epic proportions.

More About the Author

I was born and raised in the mining valleys of South Wales. My father was a Polish immigrant who came to the UK during the Second World War. I was educated at Pontypridd Boys' Grammar and from an early age had a burning desire to be a Royal Naval officer.
I trained at Dartmouth Royal Naval College and later qualified as a bomb and mine disposal expert, specialising in diving and handling explosives. I led a crack team of underwater bomb disposal specialists and also became the Commanding Officer of various minesweeping and minehunting ships.
I survived a machine gun attack by IRA gun runners in Ireland in 1976.
Using plastic explosives I was responsible for blowing-up a number of Second World War mines found off the coast of Britain.
In the Royal Navy I had the good fortune to work with Prince Charles for a year.
On leaving the Navy, I lived in Nigeria for fifteen months where I was in charge of a saturation diving system. I then moved to the American Midwest for a year.
I have travelled extensively, researching material for my work. I now live with my family in West Stirlingshire in Scotland.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! What an amazing book! 22 Mar. 2005

I've read a lot of books about the second world war but Tears Until Dawn made me fell like i was actually there. From Dunkirk through the Battle of Britain, the author really knows his stuff. Good characters, and fascinating look at the duke of Windsor. Just felt I didn't want to put the book down.
Paul Henke writes the story from the perspective of 5 different members of one family.
You feel really involved, I am now going to read his other books.
An excellent read!

5.0 out of 5 stars tears until dawn - paul henke 10 Nov. 2008
After reading Silent Tears I could not wait to buy Tears Until Dawn, I was not disapointed. This is an even better follow up to Silent Tears, which I had not thought possible. Anyone reading this book will be impressed by its content, especially the research that must have gone into it. Paul Henke is a master of combining recent historical facts with a brilliant story line. It is again continuing the saga of the Griffiths family but following on from Silent Tears it depicts their lives during the second world war. Members of the family each telling their own experiences and each tale utterly gripping. This book will not let you put it down, it is exciting, sad in parts and thoroughly entertaining.

5.0 out of 5 stars An enthralling book 6 Oct. 2011
The 4th in a series of 4 books using the life of a family to bring to life the situation in Britain from the late 19th century to the 2nd world war.
Tears Until Dawn covers the period of the 2nd world war. Paul Henks has obviously done an amazing amount of research. I became totally involved in the situations in which the family members found themselves. I could not put the book down. Having previously read the other 3 books of the series made it even more interesting.

This and the preceding 3 books are well worth reading. They bring to life a part of history in which I have never before been interested, and the characters leap off the page.
