Biography

There's a lot more to a record than simple notes, lyrics, and sounds. An impactful piece of music always remains wrapped in emotion. Love, hate, sadness, and joy resound at the greatest decibel imaginable. At the end of the day, a song's feeling will carry on as long as the melody will—and just as loudly.
HIM holds that philosophy in the highest regard on its eighth ... Read more in Amazon's HIM Store

I'll keep this review nice and simple...

New HIM album, really awesome. Yet again another fresh sounding album but at the same time these guys are settling on a sound. Drawing influences from many of their previous albums this album from start to finish is excellent. It's very easy listening with not one dud song to be found. Admittedly some tracks are catchier than others but the more you listen the better it gets.

Whether you're a HIM fan old or new or just appreciate a musically great record then buy this album, stick on some headphones, crank up the volume and enjoy.

I am a big fan of Him so have all their albums. Vile's voice is beautiful and his songwriting never disappoints. Heavy rock with a heart.

HIM is a band that is very close to my heart, as I've known them for over 10 years, therefore I will always support by buying their albums. This is a great one, with songs bursting with emotion and passion and is my favourite since their Love Metal album.
Love the melodies mixed with the deep sound of Ville's voice, mixed with the blasting metal guitars. Really recommend purchasing this album as its a great way to support your favourite band!

I wasn't expecting much from the few snippets I managed to hear on the previews, but I was pleasantly stunned when I heard the full tracks.

I've heard it about half a dozen times now and I find myself humming songs to myself throughout the day. It is completely addictive.

I admit that the instrumental tracks kind of threw me at first, but they do break up the songs really nicely and I love them now.

Some of the songs are hauntingly beautiful, like Tears On Tape and Drawn And Quartered. Granted a couple of tracks do sound very familiar in some ways to previous songs, but after a few plays that feeling fades and the songs come into their own. I loved Screamworks, and I love this as well.

I adore the way that within the space of a few minutes the mood is shifted from the mellow and ballad-esque Drawn and Quartered and merges into the dark and incredibly creepy instrumental Lucifer's Corale, which in turn is followed by the heavier and sort of melancholy WLSTD (When Love Starts To Die).

In a word, brilliant :0)

This is far better than there last attempt Screamworks less said the better on that. It isn't as good as Love Metal, Razorblade Romance or Dark Light, but it is a good return their musical territory. I enjoyed this album and it has made me look forward to future albums knowing they are returning to their old ground. I am an original HIM fan have watched the band through a lot of changes and for a while they hit a tough spot. This album is their healing. It may take a couple of listens before you get into it but you won't disappointed.

The album has potential but the boasting return of 13 tracks fell short when it was revealed four of them was short instrumental interludes. It has the same heart-wrenching emotional pain as their sixth studio album Venus Doom but the same upbeat tunes as its predecessor Screamworks. The majority of the tracks on the album don't have enough unique moments to easily tell when one finishes and one begins, the exceptions being "I Will Be the End of You" and "W.L.S.T.D" which hold their own, mainly because lead singer Ville Valo decides to change pitch. Maybe if the instrumentals were replaced with different tracks with their own unique quality it could have broken up the album into sounding more interesting and engaging. I listened to this album and was disappointed when it finished because it only seemed like I had listened to four tracks.

As always Ville's voice is melodic and carries you through the songs with the emotion linked to each one while there is thumping bass and beautiful wailing guitars I love this band.
