5.0 out of 5 stars African Chants 29 April 2004
Format:Audio CD
Hans Zimmer, the directors choice for composer, who once again takes uson a classic musical journey, this time into African rhythms, beautifulsolos and choral arrangements. Varese Records along with behind the scenesmusic-people like Steve Jablonsky, Lisa Gerrard (Ex-Dead Can Dance),Heitor Pereira, Lebo M., Andreas Vollenweider and Jim Dooley send chillsdown our spins with this (should be) award winning score album.
Acouple of stand outs "YEKELENI PART 1/"MIA'S LULLABYE", this theme couldmake time stand still, it's that beautiful "THE JOURNEY/KOPANO PART III",the final track has the "Zimmer Signature" all the stops are pulled outwith brilliant orchestration, outstanding arrangement and total blow yourmind performance, you'll gotta love it!
This CD can stand own its ownfor listen ability musical style of "Thin Red Line", "Gladiator", "BlackHawk Down" and "Power of One" if you enjoyed any of the mentioned, thisscore's for you and did I mention this is a keeper.

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful and beautiful. 23 Mar 2010
Format:Audio CD
My favourite soundtrack is Gladiator, which is superb but this runs it very close. It is superb. A mix of orchestrated and african music producing a powerful, emotional, haunting and quite beautiful soundtrack. I heard this before watching the film and it stands alone as being an excellent listen that tells its own story. Zimmer is a genius and this is a super soundtrack. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars great film 13 July 2011
Format:MP3 Download
This is a great film. I don't want to say war film because I feel this is a stand alone film, it is in a class of its own and when you say war or horror or comedy most people look for the category that they have an interest in and if it is not war then they will not see this little diamond. It is well filmed, with a great and sometimes horrific story line. It brought it home to me why our governments do not get involved with none profit conflicts around the world and the consequence this bring to innocent men, women and CHILDREN. Even though Bruce Willis is the leading man, don't watch this film thinking you are going to get the normal die hard veteran. In this film you are going to see a man (Bruce) in charge of a squad being given a simple mission of removing westerners from a hospital/safe zone, but having to leave the locals and injured behind knowing that the camp is about to be visited by-you will see. This should be a simple mission for the squad....leave at breakfast.....back by tea time. I know its just a film, but this squad of highly trained and veteran soldiers have a real and believable battle of the mind and ethics, which unfolds with real questions `Why don't the so called Christian western world leaders do more to stop the unnecessary suffering and bloodshed of the innocent in this world'. A great film all round, you will feel your own emotions getting caught up with the locals and their plight, as well as the soldiers and there dilemma.
