Product Description

Synopsis

Buckle up as Douglas Keister takes you for a decidedly retro ride in the world of diminutive travel trailers in "Teardrops and Tiny Trailers". The demand for vintage trailers - the smaller the better - has risen dramatically in recent years, with the most in-demand trailers being 'teardrops', first manufactured in the 1930s and containing just indoor sleeping space and an outdoor exterior kitchen. Also profiled in the book are 'canned ham' trailers, whose shape resembles the profile of a can of ham; small-size examples of America's most beloved vintage trailer, the Airstream; minuscule gypsy caravans in Europe; and, fiberglass trailers made in Canada. It features two hundred colour photographs that showcase these trailers' sleek exteriors, retro-styled interiors, and, in many cases, the restored classic cars that tow them. "Teardrops and Tiny Trailers" includes a resource section chock-full of places to locate vintage trailers, clubs to join, and rallies to attend.

3.0 out of 5 stars Teardrops and Tiny Trailers 2 Dec 2008
Format:Hardcover
Its a beautiful glossy book with very nice pictures. I did enjoy it, as I want to build a teardrop of my own it has given me many ideas. However, I'd have to say it is a lot of back slapping for owning a trailer. Some of the cars seemed to be more of the star in the pictures and even obscure the vans. There are some nice history panes but not enough. Over all I was disappointed. It is more of a club book rather than real information.

4.0 out of 5 stars A cool little read 8 Jan 2011
Format:Hardcover
I had this book for Christmas and have to say I spent most of the day reading this book. There are some wonderful pictures and great tales packed inside. If you are already a fan of micro-caravans and teardrops there probably isn't any new information in here for you, but that shouldn't put anybody off. It's a cracking book for the shelf and I'm sure will be thumbed through at regular intervals.

4.0 out of 5 stars small coffee table book 3 Oct 2011
By MarkP
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
Anybody looking for an in depth guide to building a teardrop trailer will be disappointed. However if you want a book full of great pictures (I actually like the ones with the tow cars) then this is a great buy. It's a good book for inspiration.

If you want instructions there are forums that offer all the advice needed.

5.0 out of 5 stars High recommended 1 July 2013
By Macbeth
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
I bought this book, primarily to look at the pictures to get some ideas, but the text was excellent, well written and very informative on the history of each model. I couldn't put it down and read it over two evenings, was sad to have finished it so soon.
