Irish Duos' superb performance,
By probe@rdplus.net (Whitchurch shropshire) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tear and a Smile (Audio CD)
A great moody CD for all lovers of contemporary folk music. The voices of Leo O'Kelly and Sonny Condell blend beautifully along with their distinctive simple but effective guitar playing. This is an album worth playing over and over again. The majority of the music is in a minor scale and is therefore a little melancholic with the exception of one or two tracks. Definately money well spent

classic folk to make your life,
By Rose Fraser - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Tear and a Smile (Audio CD)
Tir Na Nog is possibly the most genius folk group from it's era. Crafting together folk guitar, unusually gorgeous harmonies and celtic rythyms with poetic lyrics and string arangements rivaling the beauty of Nick Drake, this album is one you will listen to and love....for life. Each song tells it's own story and simple emotions. A musical escape into green fields and autum landscapes to the darkest hallow of winter. just plain beautiful.

Not for AM listeners,
By Charles M. Lepkowsky "Chuck" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Tear and a Smile (Audio CD)
This great album is one of the two incredible offerings from this little-known Irish duo. Celtic and contemporary instrumentation, powerful vocals, and compelling lyrics produce musical images that are both beautiful and mystifying. Sometimes silly, often melancholy, always unusual. It is only a matter of time until the Nog achieves Cult status.

I don't wish to play the pedant, but Tir Na Nog released three albums not two: Tir Na Nog, Strong in the Sun, and a Tear and a Smile. They're all great.
