Product Description

CD Description

New album from explosive Glasgow four piece Le Reno Amps. Features Marc Beatty of Brakes, produced by Andy Miller (Mogwai, Sons & Daughters, Scout Niblett). Drift Records proudly presents the wonderful new album from explosive Glasgow four piece Le Reno Amps. With rumours of violent band disarray and near death behind them Tear It Open blends their own unique brand of sun soaked Scottish Indie with some hell-raising ramshackle Country. It’s perhaps a yearning for the sun that doesn't always shine in their hometown of Glasgow but just one spin of Tear It Open is enough to know that this is a chunk of fun capable of warming the cockles and stirring the soul of even the most miserable bugger. Le Reno Amps are Another fine example of the Scottish live scene, with a fierce live following and having shared stages last year with Brakes, The Concretes, Arab Strap, Sons & Daughters, and The Stranglers. “What Violent Femmes would sound like if they listened to Super Furry Animals” – DROWNED IN SOUND. Rough Trade in store (4/4/09). Bearded Magazine feature. Stool Pigeon feature. Vic Galloway BBC session. Marc Riley BBC session. Black Cab Session Produced by Andy Miller (Mogwai, Sons & Daughters, Scout Niblett) and featuring guest spots by Marc Beatty of Brakes. Tracks; Outlaws / If You Want A Lover / You Do Your Thing / Going Under / The Stand Off / Body, Threads / Slow Decay / Dangerous Boy / Send Me On My Way, /The Gilded Road "Country-Punk with a smidgeon of Power-Pop. It's like the Everly Brothers teaming up with The Pixies, whilst Tom Waits and Weezer try and get a word in" – VIC GALLOWAY, RADIO 1 Word magazine Dec .2009 covermount 10 (track) LE RENO AMPS If You Want a Lover "We try to write songs with all the fat cut off so you can savour their buttery goodness," says Scott Maple, who formed Le Reno Amps with Al Nero the the north-east if Scotland. Now a three-man/one-woman outfit, their bizarre name is apparently 'nothing more than an anagram of Maple and Nero". This track is from their fourth album, which was recorded in The Delgados' Chem19 studios in Hamilton and produced by Andy Miller, who has worked with Mogwai and Arab Strap. From the album 'Tear it Open' Mojo mazazine Jan 2010 issue *** "The Four members of Le Reno Amps must have pretty good record collections..'Going Under' and 'The Stand Off' sound like they could be by the Violent Femmes; 'Body' is underpinned by acoustic finger-picking, slide guitar and mournful vocals that Beck employed on his classic mid-'90's albums and 'The Gilded Road' has the jerky rhythms, distorted guitars and electro pulses of an '80s new wave band". Will Hodgkinson

Stop watching Pop Idol or X Factor or whatever else rots the modern brain and get out to see this band live and buy their music. There are some great songs here, Outlaws, The Stand Off, The Gilded Road all rock with an edgy intensity, while songs like If You Want a Lover and Send Me on my Way provide a more relaxed and gentler guitar sound.
