Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Initially one of NBC network's most successful series, The A-Team ran for 90 one-hour episodes (with a few feature-length specials thrown in) from 1983 to 1987. The premise of the series was certainly different. A group of US operatives is sent to rob the Bank of Hanoi during the Vietnam War in an attempt to destabilise the country's economy, but the bigwig who organises the raid is killed, leaving no indication that the mission was officially sanctioned. Returning home, Smith (George Peppard), BA (it stood for "Bad Attitude") Baracus (Mr T), Face (Dirk Benedict) and that "crazy foo" Murdoch (Dwight Schultz) suddenly find themselves accused of criminal activity, obliging them to set up as benevolent mercenaries. They tear around the country in what looks like a delivery van, generally do-gooding while keeping one step ahead of the inept military police.

Snappy, witty and fast paced, the series began as a spoof of the action-thriller genre. It wasn't until the later episodes that an element of seriousness crept in, which may have caused the decline in audience figures eventually resulting in the show's cancellation. On video and DVD though, it remains a feast for fans of classic cult TV.--Roger Thomas

5.0 out of 5 stars The Classic Collection, 28 Oct 2001

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: A-Team - Classic Collection Box Set [VHS] (VHS Tape)
There is nothing like a compilation of episodes! This is absolutely fantastic, and I loved the action and the episodes on this collection.

EPISODES;

Diamonds 'n Dust
... A young woman's father is murdered by someone after her father's diamond mine. She hires the A-Team to ensure they don't get it! I've always loved this episode. Especially when they are climbing a rock face and dynamite almost keeps blowing up Face! Its an excellent episode.

The White Ballot
Seeing Face run for Sherrif is very funny, and the way he keeps annoying the current Sherrif is classic and really, really amusing!! I don't like this episode as much as others, but it is really funny.

Bad Time on the Border
I absolutely adore this one! A little girl needs the A-Team's help when she escapes from a camp for slave labour for refugees. The A-Team stop it of course, but some of the scenes with BA and the young girl are heartbreaking. Thoroughly enjoyable.

The Only Church in Time
Some people believe this is the best A-Team episode, because of the emotional angle. It is a really good episode, but lacks the action of other episodes. It does however have its fair share, and seeing Face stuck over "one" woman is definately worth watching.

Water, Water Everywhere
Another episode I love. Some handicapped veterans call on the A-Team for help. This is a great episode.

Recipe for Heavy Bread
Lin Duk Coo, a chef who once saved the A-Team's life in an enemy camp find's himself in danger, but the A-Team come to settle old scores, and save a friend. Worth every penny, this one. It also gives valuable insight into their Vietnam years.

Labor Pains
The A-Team make a union to help a small farming community. Not sure whether I like this episode all that much, but its your typical A-Team adventure with lots of action.

Semi-Friendly Persuasion
I adore this one :) A community of peaceful religious types are threatened by an ignorant town who fear their beliefs, and the A-Team come in to sort them out. There is an excellent fire scene, and some wonderful fight scenes and a challenge for the A-Team. The religous men ask the A-Team to bring down their enemies .... without fighting! Of course they do have to use some violence, but its good to see them using their *heads* (Hint, BA)

There's Always a Catch
Excellent episode in which a young woman asks the A-Team to save her fishing business.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant step back in time, 19 Oct 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: A-Team - Classic Collection Box Set [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This box set, takes you back to Saturday nights sitting in watching the a-team fight off the new bad. All the characters are there howlin mad, B.A, Face Man, Hannibal, Amy and they are just as you will remember them.

The real treat here is seeing B.A. and Howlin mad drive each other crazy and get into so many weird and wonderful situations.

It's just great. It was one of the best shows of the 80's and you won't be disappointed when you sit down to look back and enjoy.
