This album could be easily be one of the top albums of the year if given a proper chance and a good listen. It is a musical journey from the mind of Taha, the man from Sudan together with the musical talent of his French partner Nicolas. Together they take you on a blissful musical journey that will take you from the heart of Africa to the influences of classical music, jazz, urban dance, eclectic soul and a touch of middle eastern flavor.
For those of you who love St. Germain, the "Cafe Del Mar" series, Hed Kandi compilations, jazzy flavored house music then this album is a MUST for you. T-Kolai have already been featured on various compilations such as Cafe Del Mar, True Spirit 2, Trust the DJ and are gaining much respect for their quality productions of music. They have been featured on BBC Radio, JazzFM in the U.K. and various radio stations through out the world and are known for their distinct organic grooves that bring all soulful things under one album, Teak All Eye.
A great debut album from this duo and there will b more to come from them so keep your EARS open to T-Kolai's fresh sound ....

5.0 out of 5 stars one of my favourites 27 July 2005

This album is absoloutly gorgeous. Dont let these Americans have all the fun, snap this gem up today. I describe it to myself as Chilled music with an African tinge on a loose dance tip. Really beautiful! Please take a chance on this, you might just love it as much as me...which is allot of love!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sublime Elegance 26 July 2003

This is T.Kolai's first album. They've been putting out good music for a while in the underground dance music scene but this album is whole new ball game...
First of all: this is not a Dance album. This is music for the soul. Most of the tracks are quiet and introspective. Expect lush arrangements and haunting melodies.
You have to listen to this cd from start to finish: It's a subtle voyage spiced up with flavors of Jazz, South African chants, Persian Santur, Egyptian Percussions and, here and there, the distant yet energizing presence of Dance music, and Electronica.
At the end of this journey? A feeling of Peace and a sense of Hope.
Oh: and the urge to listen to Teak All Eye again...

5.0 out of 5 stars Beyond words 15 Aug 2003
By Peter Camacho - Published on Amazon.com

The most classy and soulful deep house production since Electribe 101. For those eclectic heads with deep musical substance will acknowledge how beautifully conceptialized this cd album really is. Imagine connecting all the best deep house producers in the industry such as Don Carlos & Naked Music clan into creating a very soulful musical journey. Hear on "Teak All Eye"..visually captivating vocals, keys like Mr. Fingers, ambient strings, soaring flute's, trumpet & some breathless spanish guitar breaks. DC talented musicians/producers deliver.. "Teak' with such true conviction placing our hearts in Africa by the end of the day.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it! More, PLEASE. 21 Jan 2004

I'm not an expert on music and can't say anything too poetic or intellectually deep about why I love this cd, but I definitely would recommend it to everyone (and I have)! I find myself listening to it in the car, with friends during dinner, played it during a big party I had where it was a big hit (20-30 somethings attended), even listen to it at work without any complaints from colleagues! The flute is awesome. Great mix of music and vocals. Anyone that rates this below 4 or 5 is crazy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Surprise This Year! 18 Jan 2004

I don't get that guy's comment! How can you hate this music?! This is carefully crafted musical gems. London's Jazz FM has voted this album "One of the BEST of 2003"... and I agree.
The music is a subtle blend of laid back house music, soul, and strong African influences. Lots of live musicians: saxophones, guitars, strings, percussions, and African chants...
If you want to try before you buy I recommend you visit the artist's website at [...] You can listen to every track off the album!
My recommendation: GET IT NOW!
