3.0 out of 5 stars Lessons not remembered 15 Sept. 2007
By Stephen Griffiths TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Verified Purchase
I was initially impressed with this program. It doesn't have the gushing enthiusiasm of Mavis Beacon, but one thing is really annoying and that is if you start a series of lessons and have to stop half way through, the program takes you back to the beginning again. I have been through the upper key lessons three times now and for various reasons couldn't complete all the exercises all at once. Every time I go back to the course the system insists that I start all over again from the start on upper keys. Now THAT is annoying.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good software but READ review 7 Jan. 2008
This course has one major problem. Once a series of lessons is started it MUST be fully completed. There is no facility to stop and save which is extremely frustrating. This means repeating the same work over and over again. If you e-mail the company they will send a patch to allow saving. Otherwise the units are well constructed and the games are fun. My son enjoyed the work and the problem can be resolved.

5.0 out of 5 stars It Does Improve Ones Typing Ability 20 April 2009
Verified Purchase
I purchased this CD for under £6.00 from Amazon UK. It had on it the Foundation course only. I didn't know there was an Intermediate & Advanced level. I did the Foundation part, and later learned there were additional downloads available from the Touch Typing makers web site. I download those items and I get the Intermediate & Advanced levels for free. The software does not save, keep a paper copy of where you are!
It's not easy to do, but I can type without looking at the keyboard, it's just that I can do over 30-words a minute if I do look at the keyboard.
I am 56-yr-old male, with a Dell Vista PC.
You have to search for the downloads using Google.

1.0 out of 5 stars Hugely Frustrating!! 22 Feb. 2009
Verified Purchase
I wish I had read the reviews before I bought this. The inability to save a lesson is hugely frustrating. You have to complete each level which is impossible in one session so be prepared to leave your pc on for a week or so. Trust me, this is so bad it negates any benefits. On the positive side it's amazing how quick you can learn but don't buy this one.

1.0 out of 5 stars Keep Repeating 10 July 2010
Having bought this TYTT i would not recommend this, as you have to keep going over the exercise you have already done, contact them and they send you a patch. Been there done the exercise, done the patch, lost place having to keep going over what you have done.Having reached lesson fifty got the certificate, then went back to lesson twenty instead of going on to the next lesson on Capitals. This disc is now binned and i am giving Mavis Beacon a chance.

5.0 out of 5 stars This really works 4 Feb. 2009

I couldn't touch-type before I bought this, and now I can. I can type without looking at the keyboard - I just look at the screen, so I can pick up spelling errors as soon as I make them. And I'm getting faster all the time.

3.0 out of 5 stars Almost Perfect... 19 Feb. 2010
I have had this CD for nearly two years now and thanks to it I type this review without looking at the keyboard. HOWEVER!!! I think it sabotages my progress. After the first two lessons on the home keys, the CD starts lagging behind my typing pace which leads to a lot of incorrect 'gong-like' sounds that infuriate me and make me extra careful and slow! I keep typing with the same pressure but it doesn't seem to keep pace with me. So i find myself repeating lessons just to make sure I have learned the keys accurately. Till date I cannot measure my actual speed and accuracy levels due to this problem. I am almost feeling caged.

I will not recommend it for use on a laptop, as I am using a laptop for my lessons. It does offer a choice for practice on a Standard or Laptop keyboard but no matter which one I choose the problem persists. For the price I paid for this product i do not think it is worth chasing the manufacturers for, I'll simply purchase the Mavis Beacon (or Bacon) from now on, it gets rave reviews anyways!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a bad course for the price and get certified 27 Nov. 2008
Verified Purchase
I bought this course as once you have completed a level you get a certificate to prove your new skill. And I now have my foundation level certificate after a very short time. The ghost hands for placement is an excellent idea. For such a small price- potentially 3 certificates - can not be bad.
