I bought this book to support me whilst my son attends a Montessori pre-school.

The beginning of the book is fact based, providing you with information regarding the methods of Montessori and its origins.

The remainder of the book shows activities we can do together at home, although the methods are very simple and seem obvious at first, the careful performance of them will show you the benefits of this type of teaching.

Each activity is broken down into a description of the task, materials required, how the activity should be performed and finally how you will know if you are doing it wrong!

I've found this book very helpful, it will definitely support you at home if your child is attending a Montessori setting, and I also think it will be beneficial for parents who would like to home tutor their children, or if you would just like to try out some of the points.

A very helpful text, I thoroughly recommend it!

Ths was my first read on the how to of Montessori. I consequently helped my ADHD dyslexic child to read using these guidelines. An easy read and practical exercises to do at home.

I bought this book so that I could use montessori practices/activities etc in my home with my young children (we don't have a montessori nursery anywhere nearby). I was disappointed with the book as I didn't expect it to be so basic. I work in teaching but don't consider myself an early years expert; this book was meant to help fill the gap a bit. However, exercises such as 'gradated building blocks' (stack a cup from the Early Learning Centre) and 'colour circles' are common sense activities and I wish I hadn't spend ten pounds for a book telling me I should do these with my children.

If you have no teaching background and little idea on how to do numbers, colours etc with your child, then this is the book for you.
