Product Description

Product Description

Written for the newly-qualified or student teacher, this text explains the process of identifying and understanding the nature of speech and language difficulties in pupils and shows how to support their learning. The author discusses how these difficulties can impact on the pupil's learning and offers examples of good curriculum planning and practical strategies that can assist the pupil within a mainstream classroom. The book demonstrates how teachers can get the most out of working with other colleagues, such as speech and language therapists, or parents of children with speech and language difficulties.

4.0 out of 5 stars useful book for speech and language difficulties, 23 Jun 2002
By A Customer
I found this to be a useful book, although slightly short, given that it covers all stages of teaching from primary to secondary education. I read it as the mother of a child with specific language disorder. He is due to start high school soon and his new support teacher has never worked with a child with this disorder. I think this is a useful resource, but would have preferred one with dealt with teenage years only, as a large porpotion of the book explains primary curriculum planning. There is also a large section that is only applicable in England, as it relates to the laws regarding statmenting and provision.
