Synopsis

Learning to ride should be fun, progressive and constructive, but all too often children can be frightened or put off. Teaching them is not easy. This book offers advice, exercises, lesson plans, games and teaching tips designed to provide variety and sound instruction, plus a range of innovative ideas for making learning to ride an enjoyable, worthwhile and satisfying experience, even for the very young.

Inaccurate listing 25 Nov 2007
Format:Paperback
The actual book content is excellent. It is aimed at really young and junior school children who are in the first stages of learning to ride. There are lots of good ideas for games and positive exercises which will be fun but provide the instruction and practice necessary for improvement in riding technique. Clear illustrations show what to look out for. However I consider that it is an inaccuracy to put Lucinda Green's name first in your listing of the book in the catalogue which implies that she is at least a co-author. I accept that the word (foreword)is used later on to indicate that that is her only contribution to the book. Jane Wallace is herself a rider of international renown and well-known equestrian author and the book does not need inaccurate description to promote it.

By C. Beal
Format:Paperback
Has some great ideas for those first lessons through to cantering, jumping and more advanced lessons for older children. The text gives more ideas towards a group lesson rather than an idividual lesson, but the ideas can be adapted to teaching just one child at a time. Also gives great pony care tips for teaching children.
