The Yiddish language is presented in both Hebrew script and phonetic transliteration and, unusually, works outwards from the English alphabet, developing it phonetically towards its Yiddish counterparts.

The purpose of this presentation is to facilitate the student's recognition of sounds and words. In the later stages of the course, the transliteration is dropped in favour of Hebrew script. Both printed and hand-written forms of the Hebrew script are taught. The book is available in a pack with the double CD (0 340 92779 8); the double CD is also available separately (0 340 92780 1).
