"teach yourself Breastfeeding" will give you all the information, tools and support you need not only to start breastfeeding, but to continue in a positive and stress free manner. Rather than making you feel guilty or inadequate if you need to stop or if you face difficulties, it will equip you to cope with any eventuality - and give you non-judgemental advice on how to switch over to bottle feeding if necessary, and how to maximise the benefits of this. To stop you encountering any initial problems and getting discouraged, the book is focused on the earliest days, and equips you to cope when midwife or health visitor support is not immediately available. It helps you tackle problems like soreness and tiredness, gives you advice on returning to work, and reassurance for things that might concern you such as your child's weight-gain, colic or crying. With plenty of information on supplements, sterilisation and how to begin weaning, this is a direct, friendly and accessible introduction that will leave you feel positive about breastfeeding and encouraged to continue.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everything I was after and more! 7 Jan 2009
Format:Paperback
I have breastfed two babies in the past but struggled on both occassions due to tongue ties amongst other problems and never managed to keep feeding going to the recommended 6 months. This book has really helped me keep motivated to continue to breastfeed my new baby and helped me realise where I went wrong in the past!

The advice is clear and simple and you feel like the author is speaking to you, giving lots of 'top tips' for things like how to choose a bra and how cope with problems such as engorgement.

The layout is refreshing and modern and the illustrations are particularly good. The price is also very affordable but I would mainly recommend this book as it just has everything you will ever need to know and more.

5.0 out of 5 stars essential support for breastfeeding mums & dads 19 Dec 2012
By 197
Format:Paperback
I bought this book when I my first baby was 3 months old and I was still struggling with the breastfeeding. I found it very helpful in resolving some niggling problems. It is packed with good advice and case examples. It offers a variety of solutions to problems to suit different parenting approaches, mums & babies yet is clear, simple & straight forward. It is not a personal rant on the benefits of breastfeeding. It does not recommend the latest NHS trend but is as good as the title; a practical support to teach successful breastfeeding. I am now feeding my third baby and still refer to this book as our family situation changes. I am so pleased with this book I keep one for myself and one out on loan. I am about to buy another as a gift.
