I bought this book a couple of weeks ago and it has been in my bag ever since. This is important. My bag is heavy. Books dont last long in my bag. My work items are quite enough. So Mike Walsh's book on SharePoint Foundation 2010 made the grade. I'll quickly answer why its still in my bag -

Why I wanted this book: -
Ive been working with SharePoint forever. Ive worked with WSS3.0, MOSS2007, and older crustier versions than that. Im also working with SharePoint Server 2010 extensively. I needed an administrator level book that would *only* cover Foundation, because the functionality is restricted in this specific set of technologies compared to 'full on' SharePoint Server and its quite unclear sometimes from other books where these edges are. I want to be able to get the maximum out of Foundation without using SharePoint Server.

What I found: -
Almost perfect. Mike clearly emphasises where the edges are in SharePoint Foundation, and takes some time to explain why you need to know about them (e.g. database size restrictions, search restrictions) and what you can do about them if anything. He doesnt just glibly push people towards SharePoint Server, but instead writed from the perspective of the Foundation Admin constrained by having to use Foundation.

This is the reality for many smaller SharePoint installations. That reality check is what makes this a great book.
